This might sound a bit of a silly question to all those people who are whizz kids with phones, but how do you send a ringtone, or even better application and games by text?
How do u send ringtones via text?
No way.
Atleast, no way thats easy. Maybe by zipping the files first...
And not with sms connection, maybe could be possible with MMS.
Apps and games, definately not.
I think the closest you can get is by sending a specially formatted SMS which is received as a Services Bookmark which you can then connect to and download the file over WAP.
Ringing tones, logos, bookmarks, browser/email/MMS settings, etc., on Nokia phones are using so called Smart Messaging formats. The spec should be somewhere on Forum Nokia
i'm sure you could send them via mms, if you have a file for example ummmm, game.sis, and you wanna send it to someone else, then rename the extension to something like game.mid and then attatch it to an mms and then send it to the other person and then when they get it, get them to rename it back,
would that work?
Most networks have disabled the sending of .mid files on MMS (and almost everything, other than .jpg or .gif)
its easy, all you do is find a program on soem application sight called 'foward' then you can send anything that is in ur inbox to anybody via mms, infrared, bluetooth etc etc.
you have to have it in ur inbox though, so send the ringtones to ur phone again and leave them in ur inbox.
there we gan,
clayton.
Hmmm, that might just work. Has anyone tried this out yet?
Forward is one of Ashley Montero's (he of bemused fame) apps. I'm BTdongle-less at the moment, so cant try for myself! 😞
(forward is freeware so i'll post)

The restriction may come from the operator or/and the phone. I can send a mid file from a sonyericsson phone to my 7650 but i can't do the same from py phone. Nokia had made this restriction on their phones. The only way i found to bypass this is using ringtone studio, and it works...
Samir's right, the best way i found to send tones is with ringtone studio. I sent a few tones to a se610 and they sound clearer on the se
