Just got 1 and used up about 2mb(!) and my phone keeps hanging.(phone memory has 2mb free).Also MMC only has 61mb not really 64mb as shown.

Comment on what. The fact that you provided us with no infromation at all to comment on? Or the fact that you did not bother searching the forum to find the discussion of why the 64MB card will show 61MB free and why this is normal.
If you want help provide more details. Brand, model of the MMC card, FW of your phone. What apps are installed and where and what apps keeps hanging the phone.
The full, unformatted memory capacity of the MMC is 64MB, but putting a file system on it with its directory structure, file allocation tables, etc., will eat up some of that. Hence 61MB left for use.
