Hi there! 😃
What kinds of games would you like to see for the P800!? I guess as it is a phone, small and easy games are always welcome!?
I looked through the net, and currently there not a great deal of information about any games for P800 yet, some seems to be planned though (except for the ones that is shipped with the P800 that is).
I have been thinking about classics as Pacman,Breakout, puzzels of all kinds, Space invaders etc!? All of these should be rather easily programmed for it, and released as freeware. But any other suggestions are always welcome.
you'll be surprised when the games come out 😃
with awesome 3d engine, you'll see 3d games, and perfect graphics
Hi,
Micro goldrush will run on the p800.
You can just walk the miner around with your styler.
Even laying dynamites and hack rock.

Am I correct in assuming that without the keypad on the front, there's precious little in the way of keys to control characters on the screen?
You do have the Jog Wheel, and I guess it might be possible to override the function of the camera and browser buttons on the side.
I remember the IPaq had problems with the direction pad, so some games made use of the stylus instead. I particularly remember a shootemup called Turja. Worked really well. A screen protector is advisable though.
Can someone expalin how these 5 way Jog Dial thing works.
It's a wheel, so that explains scroll up/down, you can press it as a button, so that's 3 ways, how does it operate in the other left/right direction ?
By the way, you seam to be talking in a coherent manner again 😃

As far as I know, the p800 has a up/down/click navigation on the left/top side.
This should be used to control menus etc.
further more it has just the stylus stuff. for left/right/up/down etc.
well, if you want to have fullscreen, then you have no keyboard.
Else its back to 144 pixels height with keyboard. hmmm hmmm
but correct when I am wrong, I have never seen or tested it for real.
You can rotate it up & down, and press it left & right (rather hard to do with one hand though), and also press it inwards as a confirm button. So it is not rather ideal for gaming at all, and the approach using the touch screen, together with the jogdial to some extent is the solution which works the best.
Of course all kinds of java and MIDP games will work on the P800, but for games requireing some more heavy games& graphics action, C++ or even assembler is the approach to use to get the most of your mobile gaming. Of course it depends on what kinds of games you want up & running. As you can see on the Palm ,9210 & 7650 scene there are quite some difference between different applications, and of course commercial versions have more to them.

Back this up please.
All commercial versions *truly* have is a name. Some commercial games are complete dogs (Pretty much every second PS2 Driving Game and every third beat em up).
Now have a lookat home grwon apps and tell me stuff like Jumpy, Golf and Pitstop (Team Psion) don't match up to commercial PDA games of the time.
just because you PAY more, doesn't mean you GET more!
that there are some awesom free Linux games out there. But ofcourse the majority of them has that HOWEBREWN feeling to them. Of course that does not have to mean that there is something bad about that, still it is the playability that counts. Most often some good graphics and good sound is what needed for games to get that good look. Now just having good graphics and sound (like in many commercial games), does make make a good game. And I know.. I have been trying to port a lot of Linux games to the Symbian platform (9210, 7650 etc). But still.. a true challenge. So is there a good scene of free Symbian based software!?
i'd like to learn and join such a scene, too..
To start with, in regards to a good scene of free software fro Symbian check the URL in my signature. And for those want to get into the scene, hopefully by September Rafe and I willl have something big to help you do just this.
As to graphics, best bet is nip along to the 3D Rendering sites on the net who have communities like this one. http://www.renderosity.com/ is one place where I have found a few artists willing to do in game shots (such as the head looking over the pyramid at the opening of Vexed). Just pop along and ask!
