I'm surprised you think the 7650 is a good phone.
Nokia 6600 generic dicsussion
The 7650 is a great phone, well now its outdated but its has been out there for more then a year.I'm still using mine, got it at mid july and i will be using it untill i get a p900.I still prefer it over a 3650 and the 3650 is a great phone.
I'm surprised you think the t68i or the SPV are good phones.
I don't think the t68i is a good phone - quite the opposite.
The SPV is an awful phone with a fairly good operating system.
The e100 is better. But it does have its bads pointed granted.
The 6600 look great, and the specs of the e200 are great as well. I will buy them both and sell the worst after I have played with them fully.
7650 is a nice phone but it should have had all the things 3650 can do. the reason being tht in my country the black mart. prices are crazy. so i guess now i have decided i am gettin 2 of these 3 phones (6600, 3660 or P900).decided. mostly at this point i got moeny on the 6600 & 3660.
"Personally" I think the 7650 is awful too.
It's huge, very ugly, screen is not very good, keyboard I don't like, and parts of the OS could do with tweaking somewhat.

Yes it is, but how old is it? It was the first S60 device. It's using a walking stick now!
As for choosing the 3660 or 6600... Why would you want the 3660? It's the same phone as the old model but for the screen. It doesn't have Symbian 7.0s, S60 2.0, Java MIDP 2.0... and more.
Well,you could get a 3660 because it will be relatively cheap.But i'd never buy both,the 3660 and the 6600.
The SPV is an awful phone with a fairly good operating system.
I think its completely the opposite.Basically, its good hardware with an awful Operating System - slow, sluggish and buggy. The communicator with its 52 MHz ARM outperforms the SPV with its 200 MHz CPU.

I won't argue about taste but what parts of the OS could use tweaking?I've been using it for more then a year and i only had one problem, bluetooth related, common for early firmware versions.IMO,the 7650 is a lot more reliable/stable then the 3650.

well, thats from your experience then. I never had problems with my my 3650 and i have it for 7 months now. I have some mates that had alot of problems with 7650.
Does that make the 3650 more stable then 7650?🙄
Nuh, It just means that you were lucky 😃
lol ok ppl chill no arguements plz 7650 is for the business ppl and 3650 was for the younger lot. same i guess and its dumb to catogorize it but i am still gonna. i guess 6600 is for business ppl and again 3660 can go into the younger lot as well for the year 2003/2004. nxt yr there will b 2 more phones like that lol.
GhostDog, the SPV runs at 132 MHZ not 200.
The OS is buggy, I admit, however the 2003 OS is out next week and it supports Bluetooth, Java 2 and .Net and some of the new phones will be running at 200 MHZ with the Intel X-Scale processor. They won't be slow!!
The MS OS has some very good features that Symbian simply does not, for example:
Today Screen (Series 60 add on)
Auto email synchronisation (Series 60 add on)
MSN (Series 60 add on)
Agenda day view. View a whole day's appointments without scrolling. (Series 60 add on)
Alarm time on Today screen (Series 60 add on)
HTML browser (Series 60 add on)
Shortcut keys to programs as well as contacts
Contacts category synchronisation with Outlook
Sync different users with the same version of Outlook
Continuous sync with Outlook while connected
I'm not a Symbian knocker, far from it. I intend to purchase a 6600 and SPV E200. I will review both of them and sell the weaker phone.

My bad,but still,52 MHz VS 132 MHz?
I think your points are not valid because it doesn't matter whether the applications are third party or built-in as long as they are Native Symbian C++ applications(.sis).C++ applications are so well integrated with the OS you won't even notice they are third party with the exception of some badly coded ones.
BTW:Symbian is not only Series 60,you should see what UIQ is capable of and from the list of applications you are looking in a device i think UIQ might suit you better.
Thanks for that.
I only hope that 3rd part integration is as good as you say.
I was looking at Active Desk and Active Mail and they will give me most of the functionality I need. BUT they don't integrate with each other very well and they are made by the SAME company. EG: Active Desk (Today page) shows that you have new email. Click the email icon and does it open Active Mail (their program).....No, just the built in mail program. What's the point in that, I have to manually open their program to access my emails.
I don t know anything about UIQ so sorry for my ignorance. Can I install this stuff on my 6600 then? Why is it better?
Thanks for your help.
Ok people, we are quite offtopic but I want some things to be cleared (at least from my perspective)
T68(i) was a good phone WHEN IT WAS RELEASED,but buggy because it was rushed to be released.
7650: The first s60 phone, awesome when it was released, mediocre smartphone now(but still a great device). This is my current phone.
3650: Good phone having critical things 7650 didn't (MMC and handsfree bluetooth...). but strange looking keyboard. (Now the new 3660 makes me think why Nokia didn't release a 7650i with MMC ).
SPV : A mediocre smartphone. No bluetooth (add on). No Camera (add on ), VERY BUGGY, no oppertunities to develop software without licence, M$ and only for Orange. Now the good things MS(for some people it is a good thing!),SD cards, OTA upgrades , Bundled software... Did I miss sth?
Now the new bunch of Nokia smartphones makes me sceptical of where are we (or Nokia) heading.
7600:What's that thing. NO MMC?
6600:Again what's going wrong with Nokia? No stereo output?
3660/3620: Nothing new. The phone that Nokia should have released in the first place...
N-Gage: Should this better called 7-gage (7:like all 7xxx nokia phones a beta phone,to test if it will succeed). We will surely see a revised N-gage in about a year...
And none of Nokia's phonessolved the MMC problem. You still have to turn off the phone and do all the boring stuff to change the MMC.
The Worst? A bunch of new NOT COMPLETE Smartphones and still NO NEW COMMUNICATOR😡
I'm waiting for the siemens sx1 (I know it has a silly keyboard, but so the 7600 has).
Sorry Nokia you dissapointed me once more...
PS: So the only real reason to make me change my mind for the 6600 is to solve the MMC problem and put radio and stereo output. Symbian7 and S60 v2 are not impressing me...

You could mail the authors, the feature you are looking for can be implemented very easy.
Just to clarify,Symbian is the operating system on top of which phone makers use an UI(User Interface).
The common UI for most Nokia Smartphones(7650,3650,3660,6600) is Series 60,the 6600 runs the newest version of the UI which is 2.0,the others run version 1.x.For changes from v 1.x to 2.0 you can check out www.forum.nokia.com .Series 80 is another UI used by the Communicator(9210/i).
In terms of Symbian OS,UI is not just icons and flashy graphics but many core features like telephony are UI features.
UIQ is the UI developed by a subsidary company of Symbian LTD.Check out www.uiq.com .There are two smartphones available in the market running this UI:Sony Ericsson P800 and the 3G Motorola A920 and two more will be released before the end of the year:The P800 successor - p900 and the BENQ p30.
IMO UIQ devices are more powerful,PDA-like,directed at the business user,a big advantage is the touch screen so the user has several input methods available. The main advantage of Series 60 over UIQ is that its user friendly and simple to use and it has a larger third party software base which is mainly because UIQ is younger then Series 60 but not worry, the number if UIQ apps is not small and new ones are being developed daily.
Don't get me wrong,I'm not a PR for UIQ,I do think its better, only because its suits my needs better, some people find it to complex,or not user friendly but if you want to buy a Symbian Smartphone you should check out every option not just Series 60.My first Symbian device was the 9210(Series 80),a great device, the only reason I gave it up was no GPRS,BT and the hardware was getting ancient(Well,it was not mine, that was the biggest reason 😉 ).Now I'm using a Nokia 7650(Series 60),also a great device,I've been using it for a year and three months, right now I'm contemplating whether or not a should trade it for an N-Gage,darn,I'm too sentimental. My main device will definitely be the upcoming P900 running UIQ.Since Nokia doesn't have plans to release a new updated Communicator I will probably stick with UIQ devices for a very long time.
For more information, check out our UIQ dedicated forums:A920,P800

But the SPV E200 out later this month:
Bluetooth - Built In
Camera - Built In
Buggy - Sorted
Software - Non-Orange/Licensed software WILL work
Operator - No longer just Orange. Voda, O2 & Tmobile as well as Asia, USA and many operators in Europe.
Then there's:
WAP 2.0, xHTML, HTML 4.0, CSS Browser
XML, JScript 5.5, IPv6
Animated GIFs
.NET Compact Framework
Windows Media Player 9
Pluggable codecs, WMA/WAV ring tones
UI customization
Don't be so quick to diss this product. It may turn around and bite you 😉

Thanks for the info pal. But the critic was for the very first SPV...
Anyway I am not into it. Just for me I just don't like mobile products with the MS brand. I had a sharp handheld pc (with win ce 2) lent by a friend some years ago. I didn't like it and it was awfully expensive. Now mobile phones? Not right now , but maybe I'll give MS a try in the near future, after all Nokia dissapoints me everytime.
PS😃oes anyone know if and when Panasonic will release a smartphone?
Fair cop.
