Im very impressed with Tracker3. Well done. Anyways, i have a few questions.

1. Does anyone know how to create a 'virtual flip' icon? (possible?)

2. How do i extract a ztr file? (possible?)

cheers

Advice to Symbianware:

Tracker is great, but one thing that will fail you is the Skinmaker. In a sense, Tracker 3.1 is less customisable than Tracker 2 just based on the ease of changing background alone.

Now most people are stuck with either of the 5 backgrounds (4 if you count Nightelves repetitive). It won't be long before most users will be sick of the backgrounds and want a change. They will also soon realise that despite being able to change the background on a PC, there's no easy way to change the font colours to match a lighter background etc.

Your extremely unusable SkinMaker will become the biggest complaint in the Tracker user base if you don't do something about it soon.

Thanks.

@brick,

The potential to create new skins is high. Lets just hope that some talented users will design more & more skins to keep away our boredom.

In the meantime, lets thank SymbianWare for giving users a chance to do something that SonyEricsson was unable to give us in the phone: ability to use your CREATIVITY

Please, please, please can somone make an Apple OS X skin similar to the Windows XP skin that covers the full screen.
I'm a Handy Day user but I'm thinking of switching.

I don't know for sure.. haven't tryed it. if 'virtual flip' is application then yes you can.
Even if it's not displayed in Applications list, take a for look into z disk in apps folder. If you'll find it you can make shortcut to file.

No, you can't. If skin desinger will want to share sources he should publish ztr and sources. But if desinger wants to share only a skin to protect his work, i'm affraid you can't extract any data from ztr as it's protected and have quite complex format.

I've browsed through the skin maker process and, while not for everyone, it seems fairly straightforward to create a new skin, especially starting from an existing skin that does most of what you want. Unfortunately you need a Windoze PC for the last step of generating the file 😞

An OS X skin would be nice, an OS X skinmaker would be nicer still. Failing that a skin with a very large time display would be gratefully received by those of us with less than ideal eyesight. I'd like to be able to see the time at a glance while the phone is locked.

By the way, did I tell you the new version is great! There are so many new features that I have found immediately useful.

cheers

Switching? Hehehehe I had defected to Tracker 3 from HandyDay. This version is better, as in it's power management improved. Tracker2 is bad becoz of the poor power management inside it's software. My battery will be flat at the end of the day when i uses tracker 2.😉

I also hope someone out there will build a Mac OS X for tracker3.

Has anyone noticed this.

Whenever I go to the TaskMan to close some unneeded task then click on the "Compact Memory", I see that it released just a few bytes (sometimes it even reports, zero bytes) as compared to the previous version of Tracker.

It only means that either this version do not have a good "Compact Memory" option, or perhaps this version has a very good memory management, that you don't really have to manually go for the "Compact Memory" option.

😕

To Symbianware:

You REALLY REALLY gotta make a more user friendly Skinmaker app. This is far too difficult for "non-techies" and takes up too much time. MHO.

Regards.

I find Tracker 3 drain more power than Tracker 2. I lose about 4% battery life overnight (approx 7hrs) using Tracker 2 and now im losing about 6%. I guess u have to take into account the network detection etc. I will continue to see if the figures stay the same over the next few days.

Im loving the MXP skin. The only problem with it is and other similar skins, theres no need to make the minimize, close and taskbar so big. Half the size so itll look more professional.

Anyways, i hope they come up with skin editor for dummies. Its not hard to edit, but it is very time consuming especially when theres no preview window. I like to do things the easy way - drag and drop 😃

cheers

Hi

Symbianware talks about skinmaker and skineditor. When downloading skins the skinmaker app. i attached. What about skineditor, is that a separate application?

Kindest Regards

Stefan

I've noticed one thing while upgrading from ver 2 to 3.1 which was loosing all settings that I'v made 😞
I had to insert all my icons againg from scratch, which actaully took me 3 hours in ver 2
couldn't they've made an option that lets u keep your old settings or at least inform u before it overwrites it !!

By the way, if anyone is trying to create an OS X looking skin, can they make the bottom status bar on the P800 still visable (but not the top applications bar).
That way we'd be able to see any missed calls, battery level etc.

P.s. Is anyone trying to create one?
I'd have a go if I could work out what to do and had the source for the Windows XP lookalike skin.

To Symbianware:

i already purchase Tracker 3.1,my problem is when i downloaded Taskman it says 15 days trial. what should i do? copy the code from Tracker?

tracker 3.1 sucks.......

1. I am a business user and do not want fancy background. I would like to have it light blue or just white, cause the graphics destract from my important text. The SW does not have a non background or a non-theme check-box

2. the today feature (which I need most) is not very much customizable, such that for example showing only the due tasks and not all or none.

3. ....tracker 2.0 is better for business users and non-techies.

-IYO (In Your Opinion) 😉

It puzzles me how people can make statements like this and not realise how rude they are. Here SymbianWare goes out of their way to implement tons of new features suggested by the users, making a totally free upgrade for registered users. In fact T3.1 is not just an update, but a completely new application built from scratch. How many software houses do you know that would do something like this!? It is normal to offer bug fixes, but rebuilding an already successful program from scratch and not charge a penny for it???

If you don't like it, then fine, don't use it. Myself and the majority of users will surely appreciate SymbianWare's hard work!
You could always try to actually do some work yourself and design a simple skin exactly the way you'd like the interface to be.

Your comments are far from constructive and downright disrespectful (IMO).

I agree with Raven..

each company tries to provide us (P800 users) with the best softwares it can make, and they do so for such a cheap price for these products, even we can try their softwares for a while before we buy, which will give each one us a chance to know the program and either love it or leave it.

in the other hand they expect us to give our opinion on their software, and get a professional feedback from us, so they can update or fix bugs.

so sahli I don't find it a good way to give your feedback to the company in a rude manner, although I agree with u too regarding these fancy backgrounds😮 , I also still find v2 a better choice for me, but I'm still trying to customise this new version in a way I can find it usefull.

we should ask Symbianware either to provide us with more features regarding the background, or to give us the source of building a new background that fits to our needs.

I actually didn't have any problems with the battery, I even noticed that it drains less battery than the old version 😊

Although I don't agree with the way it was put, sahli does have some valid points. I've mentioned on here before that I hate fussy backgrounds\wallpapers. To not offer an option to switch them off seems strange.

Also, Raven, you mention that the product has beeen redesigned from scratch and offered as a free upgrade to existing users. This is, without a doubt, very generous. But, consider the following scenario. Someone has paid for and been using Tracker 2.0 for some time. They have invested time to set it up as they like to work. They receive an e-mail from Symbianware that Tracker has been upgraded to version 3.0 so they install it (after all, we are constantly being told we should install the latest patches, updates etc. to remove bugs and prevent crashes).

However, rather than getting an update to the program they originally paid for, they get a completely re-written and re-worked product that no longer does works in the way they want it to do (and have paid for!) and has overwritten their old version.

Far from being generous, it would seem from many of the comments on here that symbianware might have shot themselves in the foot . Many people are delighted with the changes but, obviously, they want to make a product that appeals to as many people as possible. They have made the product fully customisable to accomodate this but, in removing the look and feel of the product people have paid for and making them use a (less than friendly) package to get it back, they seem to have alienated (or at least p*ssed off) a fair number of existing users.

Surely if symbianware would have produced a default skin very similar to version 2, they could have produced alternatives showing off the new features, had the Skin designer to let others play around and everyone is happy.

Looks like someone's already done a nice OS-X type skin for this - although it's labelled as XP-Touch for some reason. Looks good, and saves me the bother. 😃

i'm having a big problem at the moment, when i lock the phone, it says "locked", but then when it asks for a double click of the blue button, and i do that, it doesn't unlock the phone, it did at the start, but now when i lock it, i can't unlock it without removing the battery and starting the whole phone again, any one else have this problem? 😕

If HandyDay is installed please make sure that you switched off the option about handling blue key in HandyDay.

i do have handy day installed and it sounded like a very good answer 😉 i checked the options in handy day and i didn't have the option checked to invoke with the blue button, but for some reason it works now, but i've put the flip back onto my phone so i wouldn't need to use the jog dial to lock the screen anymore, i wouldn't mind having the taskmanager binded to the jog dial up button like in the older version of tracker though

I managed to create a skin just like I wanted.
I used a screen from the iPhone skin and added my own stuff including a time and a 3rd screen for user based icons (speed dials etc.)

Hope everyone likes it.

It's called triPhone because it's like iPhone but has 3 pages.
Anyone who know how can put it on the SymbianWare Tracker page.

Attachments: triphone.zip (16 KB)

apart from the skin feature, what are the other functional differences from tracker 2? Is today view improved? Any changes to taskmanager like automatically compacting memory? Im after real improvements apart from visual customization; sman 1.2 looks to me to have much more functionality; eg bluejacking, task flushing

oh my god, i love it, it's got the quick access buttons to task man and fileman, nice one dude😉

I'm trying to create a shortcut to a bookmarked web page in tracker and I want it to open in opera but it keeps opening in the default browser. Any thoughts?

When tracker is Locked and I touch the screen it turns on and says "pleas press bla bla. ....."

How do I stop it from saying that?
It uses a lot of batteries, when it lights up in my pocket.

How do I make it stop responding to screen touches when it is locked?
