After reading the article below my suspicions about the N-gage became reality. N-Gage 2 will surely come in less than a couple of years...

It is characteristic of Nokia's strength as a company that during a speech by EA's U.K. M.D. to his employees, he mentioned that EA will stand by Nokia, fully supporting them with titles while he also mentioned that Nokia are just experimenting with N-Gage. His thinking was that since the mobile phone life-cycle is just a year long, Nokia intend to receive as much feedback as possible about N-Gage so that when N-Gage 2 comes along it is a more complete product. EA's Managing Director also mentioned that it is a mistake to compare N-Gage to other consoles since they have a much longer life-cycle and updates to the product are very costly and innefficient. For those of you that may be interested, EA's U.K. M.D. went through a whole gaming speech without mentioning XBox even once. Apparently no-one that works for EA's upper management even knows what that is, a box containing pirate treasure maybe? Just to help EA out please post your comments on what you think XBox is.
actually, this is cmpletely no surprise to me...
maybe im only one of fre, but i DO see the NGAGE as ONLY another cell phone.
Sure, it DOES have awesome features, and the games might really compare tho the GBA, but hey, i got a question for anone here: Who of you is using a cellphone which is older than 2 years? 😊

It can be true. Even the PS2 released the sounds of PS3 comes direct after a couple of months... It`s normal for the tchnology world... N-Gage is something a bit like a market research I think...
If this is true - and I'm sure in a way it is - then it still shouldnt put people off getting a handheld console/phone as a �50 upgrade - I mean thats what you would pay for a normal phone with only half the features...every year you can get an upgrade...for �50. Instead of carrying around a phone, an mp3 player, a radio, and a GBA .... I just carry an ngage around now. In a couple of years ... 😊 Even the Sony PSP might be weeping...
Surely this is not a very strange thing for customers that bought N-Gage mainly to use it as a phone, but for customers who want a gaming device this is unacceptable.Combined also with the high price Nokia will have too many difficulties to make the N-Gage competitive. Knowing that N-Gage is just a beta product in order to see how the market reacts not only kills the product but also destroy the reputation of a company. Unfortunately this is not the first time for Nokia. We all know that Nokia has a whole series of phones (7xxx) mainly for this purpose. But cause of this there are also too many frustrated customers. Being more specific:
Nokia introduces 7650 and after about 3 months 3650 (better in some aspects but strangely cheaper).
Nokia itroduces 8910 and again after about 3 months 8910i.
Nokia introduces 3410 and 3510 and again after about 3 months 3510i (compining the 3410&3510 feautures + a colour screen).
Nokia introduces 7210 and again after a very short period a 7250(7210 + camera).
6310->6310i
9210->9210i
3650->3660
2100->3100
Doesn't that sounds like you buy a product and very soon this product has lost it's value? Sorry but things for Nokia are going to quickly(slowly). Quickly because we have a bunch of new phones every 6 months and slowly because none of them is a complete or revolutionary or just much better than the previous product. (One excelent example is compering Nokia's series60 phones with other brands (Siemens,Sendo...)Series60 phones. Not to mention other none s60 Symbian phones...)
Lastly I would like to add that many people blame M$ for quite the same strategy(on the software market though). Well I also blame Nok(i)a. And half of the phones I had were Nokia (I currently have a 7650 - previously a 6210).
By the way I am not posting all these things because I hate Nokia...
I just still believe that some people from Nokia are hearing forums like this one, and maybe one day they'll change their strategy.(wishing)

i think it`s normal for the technology century... everyday a new product comes out. and othher day a newer one of this. i remember that in 1987 or 1988 we bought a new Sharp television... and after we ordered it it has to be shipped froman outer country (i dont remember, i think from the hometown of sharp, japan). before we got our new TV, we say a brochure of a newer one. when we got our tv, there is 3 new `s out on the stores... and the period we ordered and we go is not a big time, nearly 2 or 3 weeks. now is the time of technology. i think thaat when n-gage was released a new version is ready and the 3rd generation is in progress. it`s a marketing strategy.
and i think that if n-gage fails, then they will try their luck on n-gage 2... because gaming console market is what they want and i think that hey won`t stop until they got what they want.
as MemphisX i don`t hate nokia. on the other way round i like their products. but this is how the market goes on and nokia is a part of it.

Well sure this is true but Nokia is overdoing it a little. 3months are a very short period for a new product.
And most importantly why they don't make a complete product. Eg. if you want games and music then you have to go with the N-Gage. But if you want a camera then you have to go with a 3650/3660.
And most importantly they don't give a shit for the 9xxx series of phones. I am quite sure that the 9xxx series of phones was the most complete phones when they were first out (if size doesn't matter). Now? Communicators are not a priorety cause they think they won't make enough money from it. Or better say force their customers buy one of their incomplete Smartphones and after a couple of years present the communicator (which will be outdated by then, but it will have the Nokia brand)
I don't buy experiments. The N-Gage would be cumbersome for me to use. I'd have to swap memory cards a few times per day. I know from where I speak. My cellular is the Nokia 3650.

yes i agree with this. all the phones have some good specialities but any them is complete... they have to make hardware add-ons like a camera for n-gage, theycan sell i seperately but they have o do that. they all have the same screen and same OS running on in the new generation phones of nokia. all caan support what others support. As it comes again and again to the market strategy. they wan to ell more and more phones, not accessories.
now i see all the n-gage, 3650, 7650 like the lions of voltron 😊 when they are combined they will form the Voltron 😊
