Hi, found this out when I was just curious on how much memory going to uses to store 1 contact list. So, I deleted 1 of my contact list, to my suprise, the memory usages was increase by 4kb. To confirm this, I delete another contact list, again the memory usages increase another 3kb. What is this man. Can anyone help on this?
Memory issues
Point one, make sure you are checking the storage memory and not the execution memory (a simple mistake to make).
Point two, It may (well I doubt it) be storing temporary info until the phone is rebooted incase you want to undo.
Point three, make sure contacts is the only app running so that other apps may not be saving data to the memory while you test.
There's a lovely app called Memory in the Control Panel for the 9210 which tells you how much space is used by various file formats, I'm amazed that this hasn't been ported as it's damn useful.
hi, switchblade. thks for your reply. Well, I hav check under "app. manager" on memory used by contacts. Before 1st deletion, it shown 326kb, after 1st deletion, it shown 330kb, 2nd deletion it shown 333kb. I continue to delete another 2 more contacts, it shown 360kb usage now. I rebooted my phone, it still shown 360kb usages under contacts. How to explain this?
this morning when i turn on the phone again and check the memory usage for contacts, it has shown 170kb. So, I guess whenever u delete something, the phone will still temporary keep it for sometime and then remove them sometime later.
Hmms I wonder if while the phone is used it interlinks data from contacts to the logs by way of showing you the names of who called when etc and stores that info with the contacts database, as that has pretty much halved your contact list size.
