not being able to access msn messenger

10 replies · 2,733 views · Started 22 November 2003

Microsoft have changed the way you log into MSN Messenger, that is why no older software will work. People with SPV's or PocketPC's have the same problem; they've had to download updates. Until the apps for the P900 are updated, no MSN for anyone. 😞

im+ immitates the way msn6 log's into the msn network, so in theory, it should work though 😕

Same here. but I can check email, and surf with opera so my connection is ok.. hmm..

No doubt about that. It worked well just a few months ago on my P800 😞

Try 12PlanetIM advanced from Handango...I tried a few different apps, and this one works for me...make sure it is the advanced app as the basic one did not work for me...

Good luck!!
Nick

I have been able to access MSN on several apps thus far even IM+. What I had to do was to ask my carrier to open up all the ports. MSN uses a unique port which most carriers block by default. Some programs, such as, 123planet uses a gateway which reroutes the request to some open port (ie 80).

Thus, your only chance of getting MSN to work is to either get the 123planet software release version of MSN or ask your carrier's data group to give you a GRPS account with all open ports. I had the issues with IM+ until I had that done. Now I have no restrictions on any programs that I use. I've been accessing MSN, Yahoo, AOL for the past 4 weeks with my P900. I never had an issue accessing MSN with my P800 over the last 11 months. So even with the changes rummaging through Micro$ MSN is still accessible through those 3rd part chat apps.

nah, i didn't have to do that, i just had to take it off the sync cradle as it was using my pc's internet connection, when i took it off the cradle, it then asked for a connection so i just chose orange gprs and it worked.

4 weeks huh...*cough*

Hey I tried using Agile and it worked, on and off the cradle! 😊 Jmsn really can connect, Ill try 12 planet again later, do you guys know what the difference its between IM pro and IM plus?
