Fair enough, but on what do you base your opinion? The BT200 has worked perfectly for me for the last six months. Voice dialing never fails. It plays the callers voice-tag when they call. Battery life has never been an issue. In other words it does everything I could ask of a bluetooth headset. I would be interested to know why you feel it is less than adequate?
And as for overpriced, I thing 50 is pretty reasonable - especially compared to a big-name brand.
Bassey,
I based it on my experiences with it and my P800 months ago. It just didn't measure up to the other BT headsets that I have. I think people's judgements tend to be biased when they get used to a product after not trying almost everything out there. I own a lot of BT headsets to gauge it against and it scores extremely low. I used to do a lot of praising to until someone would burst my bubble and show me something that was better optimized (technically) for lesser or similar market value. Its prices are pretty low in the European market, but it is extremely high locally because little to no competition. The average schmo can grab one of these headsets here on their way home whereas they would have to go out of their way to get lets say a SE/Nokia/Motorola/Bluespoon BT headset. So its market price is still fairly high here again due to lack of competition. Don't mean to dump on you m8. I really just am sickened by that headset. Maybe its because I've gotten used to better.
Okay, maybe I worded my question badly. Why is it inferior to other headsets. Obviously, from what you've said earlier in this thread, the Bluespoon Digital has far better sound quality but, at four times the price, I'd damn well hope so.
From other comments you have posted here the headsets from SE (all of which are far more expensive that the Jabra) don't work at all well with SE phones. Other headsets do, but what do they do that the Jabra doesn't? It, to my admittedly limited knowledge, does everything any other bluetooth headset does. It does it all with perfect reliability. The battery life is pretty much as claimed. It's only downside is, due to the short boom, it picks up a lot of wind noise. Obviously you wouldn't want to use it outside on a windy day or in a convertible car. But as I got it for use in the car (using a mobile without a handsfree whilst driving has been illegal here for years) it's perfect.
I just don't understand why you feel it is so disgustingly inferior? Could you give me some specifics?
PS Merry Christmas to you and all AAS members and admin. I'll be heading off home in a bit, so to all fellow Scandanavian\Germanics celebrating Xmas tonight, have a great time. For those leaving it 'till tomorrow, enjoy yours too. And for those that don't celebrate Christmas, have a party anyway!
Bassey -
I just don't think this headset measures up with what the market has to offer today. The style just doesn't fit the profile of a wireless ear piece nowadays. As weird as it may sound I would take my ancient HBH-10 over the Jabra 200 any day. I don't think I need to go into technical specifics of why this headset is inferior because I wouldn't be able to find a fair competitor. It does what it needs to do, but not at the price its sold for.
Its my personal opinion. Again, I think it stems from the fact that I think it is still overpriced (for a headset that can be found next to the battery section in some stores) compared to the competition in the market to-date. Happy Holidays....
