Epocware has just released the new Handy Day. I was one of the beta testers before it finally came out. I find that it is alot more powerful and useful now. And they are offering a big discounts to all previous Handy Day owners like me. I was hoping that they would give a free update to this latest version. But then again I think its a completely different software so its justifiable to charge us for this. Anyway I was wondering what you guys think of it? I am currently using Tracker but am torn after seeing this latest version. 😊
New Handy Day
I used Tracker and Handy day until last month, and i decided to choose Tracker. I prefer it because I can not use two of them together. Tracker is more customized i.e. I can make it like Windows XP, Pocker PC or other interesting themes. I believe that in the future Tracker will be updated in order to adapt whatever Handy day can give us. This is only my opinion.
Best Regard😞
😊 yeah, TRACKER is really amazing... (anyway, havent tried the new handyday yet...)
Im dissapointed because we who bought handyday before have to pay for it again.. It did say that all future upgrades will be free. Unlike tracker, from version 1 to 3 with totally new enviroments they didnt charge us with any extra anymore... Just my opinion, I have tracker and the old handy day just not the latest one.
Count me into the "disgruntled customer" camp. I've done some beta testing and translating for them in the past, for which I've always been given a free copy of the software at hand. The last program I translated was Handy Databank - not an easy job I can tell you. I spent quite some time finding just the right words in Norwegian. For this I could choose whatever software I wanted from them, but at the time there wasn't any that interested me...
So, I therefore brought it up again upon the release of Handy Day 2004. Everything seemed to be a okay, they replied that they would send me the unlock code, but guess what, today I got an e-mail from them again where they had the nerve to ask me to translate the entire Handy Day 2004 program in order to get the unlock code! 😡 I should also mention that I did initially purchase the program, so what I will get for my translation is the upgrade fee ONLY.
EPOCWARE - FORGET IT!
I'm sticking to Tracker. SymbianWare is an excellent company in comparison, for whom I've also been a beta tester for a long while, and guess what, SymbianWare have given me EVERY SINGLE program they've made FOR FREE, even the ones I haven't tested.
Conclusion:
EPOCWARE = Baaaad.
SymbianWare = Gooood.
At least you have heard from them. I too have done a lot of beta testing for them on both this and other products but I haven't even been informed that HandDay 2004 has been released, never mind what my upgrade options are.
To be honest, although I did a lot of beta-testing on the new HandyDay, I was always in two minds as to whether or not I would install the final version - even when I assumed it would be a free upgrade.
I find the current version of HandyDay does exactly what I need it to and is very memory efficient. The new version eats memory for breakfast and is heavy on the battery. I'm not sure the extra functionality is worth the hit. I've never bothered with Tracker as I found it too cluttered. HandDay moving towards the Tracker model, for me, is not a good thing.
Here you will find a poll about Epocware's Handy Day upgrade policy.
I'm with Bassey on this one. I installed and paid 😞 for the upgrade. . .after working with it I find it is getting cluttered, too complicated and is definitely using too much memory. . .haven't measured battery use yet but I imagine it won't be as efficient there either. At the moment I have decided to stick with Handy Day 4.1!
Speaking about beta testing, I tested handydates for them too and after giving them my reivew, they told me thank you and attached a file.. but the file was just a demo file, when I emailed them where the code was I got no response from them very since 😞
😱 WOW, that really sucks!!!
