How many dead pixels?

This thread included a poll: How many?

Hi,

are you asking how many dead pixels are acceptable from new? or just how many have we managed to collect?

What's Nokias position on this? What do 'they' think is acceptable? Should we take our phones back if we find one?????

Hi
I bought a Nokia 6600 then find 3 dead pixels and go to Nokia shop to repair it.
Firstly, they said 3 dead pixels is acceptable . Oh my god , just a small screen with 3 dead pixels .Then i said change a new one or give money back. Finally, they agree to change the mon but they said no stock .
I wait for 1 month to change the mon and luckily I don't find any dead pixels in the new mon now

So if u are bought original good , Go to Nokia shop to change a new mon .It is our right😉

How do you manage to get dead pixels anyway?

open your camera, take a snapshot of any black surface (really black OK?).. u'll see if there's dead pixels

Should be enough to cover the lense with your finger, instead of hunting for a black surface to photograph. 😉

Ok what if the dead pixel is out of the camera screen?

Use a black background (a black theme would be better) and see if you have any, that's how I saw the 2 stupid pixels.

I went to Nokia service center here, they told me that they don't have screens now, they should have in 2 weeks, and if they didn't get them, they will replace the phone 😊

I know that Nokia replaces phones with 1 dead pixels, what about 2 or 3 then? 😕

You view the image full screen & zoom until it takes up the whole display.

i have on dead pixel...but its ok coz its located at the right lower corner and almost unnoticable.

Hey !!
Ive got one dead pixel...what a shit..smile
It is always red.....
So i can always see the dead red pixel...

I accidentally voted "none" and it wouldn't let me change my vote 😡

I meant to vote THREE!! THREE dead pixels, and what's worse, TWICE!

My 6600 had a screen with 3 dead pixels. One was really really obvious - a big blue flashing one in the top left quarter of the screen. It was most noticeable when taking photos - any photos. Anyway last week the phone died and wouldn't start up, so I had to reformat - I lost everything on phone memory, including phone numbers and calendar entries. So I decided if I was going to keep the phone at all, I'd change the screen so at least I wasn't p155ed off with the dead pixels any more. Took it into a service centre and they changed it in less than an hour.

When I picked it up from the service centre, I checked it and I'M SURE the new screen had NO dead pixels whatsoever. However when I got home, one just to the right of centre had died and was flashing dark blue. This annoyed me as I thought I'd missed it earlier. But then I later noticed ANOTHER pixel near bottom left had died - and now I look at it, would you believe it, YET ANOTHER pixel has died near top right. So we're right back up to 3 dead ones again!

Looks like I'm going back to the service centre first thing in the morning... Another morning wasted...

What the hell kind of 'tards are making these crappy screens Nokia are buying??? Surely there are enough people complaining that Nokia would at least change the supplier. I can't believe that this is the first phone I've had (and I've had six so far since 1999) that I've needed to return TWICE to be repaired within a month of getting it... Not to mention the fact that it CRASHED on me and lost all my data... 😡

Sorry about long and tedious post, had to get my anger out... if this THIRD screen is duff, I'm dumping Nokia, after 5 years...

The best way to see if the phone has dead pixel is to open snake game and you'll see the dead pix from the black background... while the game is loading... hope this helps...

Well the replacement replacement screen is in and so far, no dead pixels... Hope I never have to take it in again...

Somebody really ought to take this to Nokia. I'm sure if all the 6600 owners out there checked their phones for dead pixels a lot of them would find some - and if they all went to service centres to demand repairs under warranty, Nokia would actually do something about the issue.

Remember everyone - YOU ARE ALL ENTITLED TO FREE SCREEN REPLACEMENTS IF YOU HAVE DEAD PIXELS! DON'T TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER!

I have 1 pixel stuck red in the top-right area of the display. Most of the time it's hidden by the blue band, only becomes apparent when running applications in full-screen mode.

However, if I pay $375 for a phone, I think it's reasonable to insist on a screen with NO BAD PIXEL.

I bought this just yesterday. Will see what luck I have at the Nokia Care Centre...

Shall I count the 3rd, 4th, or 5th 6600? Want the story for the record:

T-mobile USA sent me 2 phones in a row with worse dead or flashing pixels than the one I currently had. Nokia USA said they NEVER got the information on why the phones were submitted for repair (based on the IMEI number). T-mobile retentions won't give me a new phone since they don't have anything above a 6600 (symbian tri-band..etc..) and they claim they have to charge me for a new one. Nokia can't give me a new phone until they have a service record on the one I have:

Translation= T-Mobile avoids lemon replacement with new equipment by swapping out refurbs, but fails to do reasonable tests on the refurbs (like turning them on)

So, I've had 1 flashing pixel, 1 flashing pixel in a different place, and 1 dead pixel and 1 flashing pixel.

I got a conference call w/ Nokia USA and T-Mo and the first retentions department (where you go when they send you more than 3 bad phones) representative gave me the worst customer service possible. When I asked to speak to his manager he put us (nokia rep was on the line) on hold, then came back and said 'my manager told me exactly what I told you'. Some people don't understand customer service. I had to demand to speak to his supervisor, who tried his best to solve the problem w/ logistics and manners (nokia wanted the phone to see why they were getting so many bad refurbs sent out, but t-mobile couldn't extend the return period). Finally, I opted for replacement phone number 6 (I only actually kept 2 replacements so I'm really on my 3rd 6600 in 7 months). The screens are terrible and the service center isn't doing its job. This last one didn't even have the case snapped down when I got it.

However...surprise..Nokia is trying to make good w/ US customers. I got a huge Fedex box from them w/ a free 64M card and a letter 'thanking me for my feedback'. At least SOME of their reps try and get a solution.

Deal here is to get a replacement phone from your service provider, then send your original phone to Nokia so it has a history and qualifies for their replacement policy, which has to abide by the law in your area.
