The Sendo X - See Hear Connect Do.

Will it really live up to the hype? Is it worth buying a fairly new brand of phone (compared to nokia and siemens etc.) Would I sleep better in my bed knowing that I have ordered a Nokia 6600 or a Siemens SX1 or even a Nokia 3660 ?

I'm not a business person nor do I care for applications such a power point etc. I wish for a up to date great looking phone with fun features (symbian - for programmes etc.) a great screen and will fit nicely into my trouser pocket.

I know people's opinions on mobile phones vary greatly. However, I would be ever so grateful if anyone could give their insight into the cutting edge mobile phones on the market and will be on the market within the next3 months or so in the United Kingdom (/Europe).

Thank you, h0t1c3 😊

I am relatively new to the mobilephone phenomenon. But i am a programmer by trade and completed a course in Computer Science in the uk. My view is mainly of symbian platform phones. I have heard many of people mention the windows phones but i dont see many people getting excited about those. Now the top dog in the symbian smartphone race is Nokia(feel free to disagree). They have been around longer and are the strongest mobile phone producer. Sendo is a relatively small company with no realy outstanding acredations. Siemens is an electronics giant which has been trying to crack the mobilephone market for a while now (but failing). It does have some avid followers but has no where near the following Nokia does. Now to the latest smartphones.

1. Nokia
Nokia has a multitude of smartphones out. 3650, 3660, N-gage, 7650,6600 etc. You get the picture right? I have the n-gage at present and have played extensively with 3650 and 7650 and 6600. I liked them all the only thing that drew me realy to the n-gage above the others was its price and also the target audience(adult children such as myself). The clarity and userfriendliness of the 6600 makes it a great phone also its smaller than all of nokias smartphones. Now i could go extensively into the differences of all the varying Nokia smartphones but that i will leave to you and some research within this forum 😃 . The flagship for Nokia in the smartphone race is the 6600.

2.Siemens
I know little of this company apart for it produces variou electronic components and that it is german. From reading posts people either love Siemens or cant stand it. They are solid well made and as far as I can tell(from the various posts) practicaly bug free. The SX1 is Siemens hope to dominate the smartphone market. The SX1 has a wierd layout and it does appeal to me to a certain degree. For a while there was alot of hype over the SX1 but it has died out my opinion is that the Sendo X has stolen its fire.

3.Sendo
Sendo is a small company based in the UK(Birmingham). I have looked through their phones read through the various items contained on their website and well nothing realy stands out until you read about the Sendo X(Sendos smartphone). Its features wipe out all the competition it is by far the smartphone with the most features. In theory the Sendo X is the best but what comes into question is whether Sendo can deliver the goods. Reports so far are encouraging. Personaly when the Sendo comes out in England I think i will be purchasing it but that is just my humble opinion.

So the choice is yours. Nokia the mobilephone giant with its phone already out there and gaining fans on a daily basis, Siemens the electronics giant with the wierd and fantastic SX1 or the outside chance Sendo with their feature rich Sendo X.

I currently bought myself a n-gage just because i found it hard to read all the posts about people using their smartphones and i not having one. But I am going to wait to see who prevails out of the top three and to the victor go the spoils.

Hope that helps

P.s For those who disagree please input, thanks!

WOW!!! Thank you for that detailed reply! 😃

Your comments are very helpful and I think I will be buying either a Sendo X for it's 'feature rich' components or a Nokia 3660 because they have fixed the ridiculous keypad of the Nokia 3650.😱 However, I notice that the Nokia 3660 has a 64k colour screen but, it is not a tft screen. So will that mean the screen will be hard to read from certain angles and under sunlight? (like my pathetic Motorola T720i 😞)😕

Cheers in advance to any future replies 😉

I am unsure. I do not know realy without looking at the phone personaly. Before you buy it though compare it to the n-gage. I know it has no camera but i got my n-gage from the uk for 130 pounds. Which in comparison to other phones is cheap.
Good luck with your purchases.

Well I see it more as buying a Symbian phone, so sleeping in bed is easy. Sendo are giving us a Symbian phone with more features than Nokia have given. So I'm buying the Sendo 😊

First of all I would like to suggest you not to give so much weight to the brandname, because all of them are series 60 which means that their user interface as well as most of the apps are almost identical. The only real reason to see the brand is for the support.

Nokia: Surely the biggest one in selling mobile phones but support is not always perfect (most of the times it depends where you live). Not to mention that you won't get free firmware updates through Internet (you can get firmware upgrades only during the warranty period and you have to send it on a Nokia Service Center for a period of 1 hour to couple of months/as I said depending where you live).

Siemens: Well surely they have great support (at least in my country). I must admit though that past Siemens phones (especially the SL-45) were VERY BUGGY. I strongly believe though that this will not be a problem with the SX-1.And by the way it is one of the few companies that gives free firmware upgrades through Internet for all their phones.

Sendo: I don't no many things about Sendo but I have heard by many people about their very stable phones. And the free firmware upgrades through Internet are also present.

The next best thing you should look for is the features ...that feat YOUR needs.

3660: Well I can't really recomend it. Although the new keypad is very good the RAM is very limited(only 3MB free compared to more than 8 on the other s60-7650 and 3650 are not counted). I must admit though that 3650 still has the best camera, as long as the camera hardware hasn't changed on 3660,but don't expect big differences.

N-Gage: If you are a gamer go for it with no doubt. But if you just need a smartphone forget it. It also doesn't have a camera and no IrDA. It is also the cheapest one (so it's not a bad choice price-wise)

6600:Well surely it's one of the top phones but there are only few reasons to choose 6600 from the competition.
1.The great and full of brightness screen as well as
2.the fully customisable skins featured only on series60 version 2.0.
3.Series 60 ver 2.0 and the latest JAVA micro edition for future applications.
On the other side the phone is slower from the others, has incompatibilities with many series 60 programs (because of the new symbian ver 7 OS) and has many of the disadvantages present on all Nokia's series 60 smartphones like no stereo output (only the N-Gage has), no hot-swapable mmc cards,no PC connectivity other than bluetooth and IrDA (again N-Gage is not count). The package also includes a 32MB MMC card(it depends though from where you buy it).

SX-1:To say the truth I didn't like it at first but I love it now. The screen is nice but not as bright as 6600s. Hot-swapable MMC cards is also very good. Radio and stereo output give it more points. The only pain would be the keypad. But it is a lot better than that of 3650 (after all Nokia uses the same keypad layout on 7600).The package also includes the usb cable to connect it to your PC.)

X: The most featured s60 device. Good screen but again not so good looking as 6600s. It also has stereo output like SX-1(no radio tuner though). But the real advantages are
1.SD-cards compatibility which are cheaper than MMCs and in greater capacities (1GB anyone?). It also takes MMC and like the Siemens they are hot swapable.
2.Dual stereo speaker (I don't remember how the thechnology is called) making it really loud
3.28MB free to user for programs/messages/photos etc. while the SX1 has only 4MB and the 6600 6MB(ofcourse you also have the memory cards).
4.A small flash for the cmera which can make the night photos a little bit better in quality(don't expect miracles).
The only disadvantage I could see on it is the size of the keys which are very small. By the way it is the smallest s60 device.

Sendo-X is the one I recommend you to buy (although I am going for the Siemens).

Lastly I would like to recommend you to make your choice by what YOU LIKE AND NOT WHAT OTHERS SAY. Take a look on all of them and their features. See which one fits your needs best. Which looks more appealing to you. Which one is more beautifull...
Just go and see them on a shop, try them, feel them... OK I've gone too far 😃

PS:The 7700 is not an option because
1. It is not series 60 but series 90 (and there are no apps for it right now)
2. It is very big (even bigger than 9210)
3. In my opinion you must compare it with P900...

WOW thank-you MemphisX, your post was very informative and useful.

I'm new to this forum, so far it has been great! ACTUALLY i'm adopting this forum as my new home 😃 It's great not to be chatting to idiotic people who post nonsense posts.

😎 Say "Hello" to your new AllAboutSymbian brother😛

Hi guys!

Fortunately, the German Sendo spokesman Mirko Lange is member of our board www.telefon-treff.de and he always gives us the latest information on Sendo X.

Here (Babelfish-German-English-translated-link) he compared the smartphones Siemens SX1 and Sendo X in a rather objective way (as objectively as it possible for a Sendo spokesman 😉)

According to his test, there is one feature that doesn't seem to fulfill the expectations:
The Sendo spokesman says that the Sendo X SoniX dual chamber loudspeaker system sounds worse than the loudspeaker of Siemens SX1!
So he contradicts MemphisX in this point.

But in order to get your own impression, I recommend you to read the whole comparison. If there are any questions concerning understanding of the original German text or the Babelfish translation, don't hesitate to ask me!

The 3660 has a 'slightly' better keypad, the phone is still hideous though, SX1 has immaculate pedigree, still looks a bit weird to me.
6600 has no stereo hardware, uhuh Nokia WTF!!!
Was waiting for the 6600, soon as I found that out, binned the phone totally.
The SENDO just looks gorgeous (yes my number one priority) and has EVERYTHING I could need, even if it's buggy I'll put up with it, it couldn't be any worse than that piece of sh*t ,SPV.

Could it?

I must admit that I didn't had the time to test SX1 and Sendo-X thoroughly. After all by the time a had them I just had some minutes to play with. The siemens was a beta product some months ago while the sendo was not so long ago(less than a month). So I didn't had them at the same time, and as I said didn't have much time test thoroughly to see more specific stuff (like the free RAM). I remember though that Sendo sounded great through the speakers better than 6600 but I strongly believe none of them can beat the P900 on that. The other thing I must admit is that in speed (at least on the menus) the SX1 was closer to the speed of my 7650 (7650/3650 are still faster don't ask me about 3660,rumors had it to be slower cause of the screen res but just rumors). The Sendo on the other side although it was not as fast as I thought it would be it was slightly faster than 6600 (especially when booting). It is also by in my opinion the fastest in video recording/playing(unless you use 3rd party apps)...

The comparisons I had was:
SX1 VS 7650
and
Sendo-X VS 6600 VS 7650

6600 has no stereo hardware, uhuh Nokia WTF!!!

Exactly the same here, I'd waited for the 6600 for ages thinking it was the perfect phone to introduce me to the Series 60 Symbian heaven. Then I read on a forum one day that it had mono sound, which was not only terrible from the built in speaker, but didn't sound too great from the Headset. Then I found out more and more like it didn't even have an MP3 player built in, and it was struggling to run a lot of existing apps. I just thought, no chance Nokia, I'm gonna wait for something else.....

Hate to mention the piece of crap but my SPV (spits) has gorgeous stereo sound and a hot swappable MMC slot, I really can not fault the MP3 play, it is as good a listening to my PC play them, it struggles with VBR MP3's and any odd characters in the name will lock the app (typical Microshite eh) and also it won't return to play after taking call without hitting keys on the phone (much more annoying than it seems that one, and a major worry for the sendox)
The SPV is ancient now, WTF NOKIA!!!!!!!!

Sendo-x was boasting abt their dual acoustic speakers on their webby.. I really found this cool & expected it to be good.. Can someone who got those 2 phones compare?? Or should we wait for the final version of Sendo X to be fair as Siemens has already launched their phone.. I was expecting better sound on Sendo.. Hmm...

I have had the SX1 for about 3 weeks now,

And absolutely love it, the keypad is perfect once you get used to it, texting is no slower than on a standard layout and can easily be used 1 handed (well for me anyway)
I defo prefer the look of the SX1 to the Sendo X

The screen is better quality than the Nokia 6600 (my m8 has one) above someone mentioned that the Nokia 6600 has a brighter screen yes it does but NO WAY is it better quality the colours on the SX1 screen are alot richer/vibrant the screen is spot on, the Nokia 6600 screen is too bright the colours look a little washed out compared to SX1, a brighter screen defo does not mean a better screen,

And also a 1GB MMC card has just been announced so once the price falls there wil be no real advantage to SD cards as from what i has seen SD cards are not much cheaper than MMC (in the 128 and 256 department anyway)

Just my 2 cents 😊

The reason I am shifting to Sendo-X is because in Sg.. It was to come out before chinese new yr. Now it's chinese new yr and it's forecasted to launch this feb. I really don't know if Siemens has poor marketing skills or the ship hit a storm or got delayed.. Whatever it is.. With the bugs inside the phone since it was announced this phone will be on the market till today.. There is still bugs.. Esp with the camera.. I mean..It's such a big company with so many brains so can't they do something with so many months?
