Memory card problem

Well, I read on here that if I formatted my MMC via a card reader it would sort out my problems. I did it and then put it into my Ngage. My Ngage told me that it was corrupted still so I had to format it again in the phone. I did all of this and now my PC recognises the card when it is in the card reader but not when it is in the N-Gage!😡

I had a few problems connecting everything up when I first purchased it but after the corrupted memory card fiasco my PC won't recognise the N-Gage at all. I'm at the end of my tether as I can't see what the problem is. I've tried re-installing the Nokia CD incase the drivers were corrupt but to no avail. Any help at all would be sooo appreciated.

I've had this problem for ages, so I sent my MMC back for a replacement which should come tomorrow , this should work. Did you just pull the USB cable out like me instead of disconnecting it on the computer, if so this is probably the problem.

where did you buy your MMC from or did it come with it???

No chance on returning it, it was bought second hand from a mate. I find it really hard to believe that I've damaged the card when it still works via the card reader. I just don't understand it at all.

neither do I, I think thats the problem, if your looking for cheap memory cards they've got new128mb ones 99p starting bid at ebay.co.uk

Sweet, cheers mate. Let me know how you get on with your replacement. I want to try another card in my phone to see if it is geniunely the MMC that is at fault and if, with a new one, my PC and N-Gage will play nicely together once again.

Cheers. I ended up buying a card reader for only a tenner so it worked out cheaper doing it this way. A bit more of a faff, but it works.

Still none the wiser as to how this happened but ho-hum, you can't live your life in the past, sometimes you've just gotta move on. 😊

I read in one forum that is faster to format the card from pc.
i did it and then ngage alerted me that card is corrupted.I formated the card from the phone and now my phone is recognize the card and my pc doesnt 😞
I have tried all the ways that can be and nothing help!

I dont understand why i can connect to my card and the phone through PC SUITE(via BlueTooth) and cant via USB cable it irritate me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you get this card reader from a shop?

An independant computer hardware shop in Nottingham. They generally range from �10 to �30, depending on whether you want it to look like something out of Dr. Who or Star Trek. Same horse, different jockey imo.

Format your memory just like this
type:fat 16
Sector size: 512 bytes
cluster size :2kb
Back-up fat: yes
I had the same problem with a memory kingmax now is working but not how i want i men i still have lots of problems...
So try it...
I formated on a Pocket PC iPAC HP.

hey guys iam having memory card problem with ngage qd i cant get 4 mb files to my mmc it directly goes to the phone memory which is only 3 mb so automatically it says low memory space .............................. so any help would be apreciated when i tried using pc suite framework got overloaded , any help would be apreciated

If the instructions you find don't help, then I'm afraid your card is a lost case.

For the record, you need to format the MMC card with the FAT (not 32) file system if you are going to format it on the PC. If you format it with another file system (ie: fat32, ntfs) you are definitely going to run into problems reading it on the N-Gage. You may even have to format it FAT multiple times between the PC and the N-Gage to get it to recognize again. I had to do this awhile back...when I first got the phone. Now I know what to do and what not to, so I'm ok 😊
