Hi guys! Is there an applic. that will allow mp3s to be assigned as ring tones for the 6600?
I shall appreciate your replies. 😊

as far as i know it is not possible to do this, the next best thing though is chop up your mp3 and convert it to wav, send the .wav through PC Suite, and it'll convert it and make it into a smaller .wav.
Eg. I chopped up a song (about 20-25 seconds worth) and its .wav file was about 5-6mb, after being transferred via PC Suite, it ended up being 200-300kb, that is nothing when you have 32mb or even 256mb (like my case) on a 6600 😊
hope that helps
PC suite conversion system is really bad,so i'd suggest making the wav's on PC and disable the PC Suite conversion.
Hi, Ghostdog. If I disabled the pc suite, then i'd have to send the wav file via bluetooth. Wouldn't that eat up a lot of space?

yeah it would consume a lot of space, but im guessing it would sound much nicer, try both ends, try converting it and leaving it raw and see which one sounds nicer.
im fine with the quality of my converted .wav's they are loud (when its not in your pocket) and i can hear the music quite fine 😊
Thanks for your input, mr_caesar! Appreciate it. 😊
There is a app than can convert the whole MP3 file so your phone can play the whole music without chopping it.
The apps called Multimedia Converter 2.0 (if I remember it right)
It works on my N6600 and play the whole music in 357kb (more or less) only!
You mean it converts mp3 to wav and still produces only a small file? That sounds like a good applic. What company produced it? Where can I get it? And how much?
Thanks in advance! 😊
Try GoldWave 😊

try here
Thanks, mr_caesar!
when you dont use the pc suite converter e.g. converting your mp3 to WAV and directly transferring it to your phone, the WAV file sounds very harsh e.g. breaking point of the phones speaker because of the high bitrate. IMO, the converted WAV of the pc suite sounds just fine.
Well, you just need to use optimised settings, the ones PC Suite uses are far away from optimised. If i have the time I'll post an example later on.
Thanks for the input, ssaloon. I'm in the process of trying out the different options.
If possible you should convert from the original source, for example rip a cd to wav and encode it mono, then transfer it to your phone via BT. This will allow you to get the best sound at a file size of your choosing.
If you convert a MP3 --> Wav you'll probably end up with a poorer sound quality. This is because MP3 is a lossey codec whereas Wavs are lossless, that is, the MP3 has already lost data and that is not replaced if you turn it into a Wav.
Here is the example.I had to lower the quality because the forum doesn't accept attachments larger then 400K and the original file was just a few KB's above 400 and it sounded a lot better.BTW:Its a mp3 converted to wav.

I use Sound Forge. The original sample was 22Khz 16bit mono. The sample i posted is 8 bit but most of the time i use higher quality ringtones like 44Khz 16bit mono.
is that free ware? i think i can do that with nero wave editor. what's the average file size?
Not,its not freeware.I don't know about Nero wave editor but it wouldn't hurt to try.The size of the files depends on the quality and length.Usualy my ringtones are arround 500 to 800KB.
I wish I had your technical know-how, guys.
I do too don't have technical know-how but in continued trial and error I made some success😊 You too can do it. Just read on the Help. Got made some ringtones of my own😉
I am all a bit new to all of this and i know you are all fed up of some of use being some good dam dense but....
I have just downloaded "goldwave" and "mobiclip" and basically when i convert an mp3 file to wav it ends up still 23mb any ideas on how to reduce it to 100 - 500kb.
Standard PCM wav file is arround 10 times larger then a mp3 file, depending on the compression of course,so the 23mb is ok.You can use lower bitrate or even different codecs like GSM but that will reduce the quality of the wav file or you can use PC Suite's conversion feature.
ok i have just got the file on to my phone and it is cool. (DJ Yoda with the a team) And now i am trying to put a 9min P*rn video on my phone and i have got Mobiclip but it is asking me to install .net framework so i downloaded it and still same message. any ideas.
I know this is alot but any idea which phone manager lets you modify the phonebook and thumbnails stuff like that
I open winamp and play the song that I want and I use sound recorder from windows and record what i want. Then I save it as .wav and I sent it on my phone. It works perfectly !!! 😃 😃 😃 😃 😃 😃
Is the attachment above (pick up the phone) meant to be down loaded as wav so we can use it?
Or just listen through media player?
Thanks
