How long you willing to wait?

Given the delay, the Sendo X really should be upgraded to a 262,000 colour screen and 1.3MP camera.

What about waiting for the Neonode N1 guys? Come to think of it, does it actually have a video camera?

dragonetti,

According to the web, thses moto will be introduced in Europe and Asia in Mid 2004 or later. I hope they would be out a bit earlier.

dont know if this has been mentioned before but i came across this little article where the prototype was briefly reviewed.

"The first trial
Mr. Brogan also brought us the few engineering samples to us to have a first trial. In his presentation, Mr. Brogan emphasized the phone was for the professional users, and used aluminum as the material. We compared the feel with Nokia 3650. The design of Sendo X is more elegant and straightforward. It reduces the strange looking feel from Nokia innovation design. However, the size of keypads is too small, making them not comfortable to press. The five ways controlling trackball is not easy to press too. The phone is shorter, but have similar width with Nokia 3650. We cannot describe it as small, while we still accept it as a smartphone. We tried a short time, finding that the first prototype not as strong as its described. The Sendo X 65K TFT screen is not brighter than only 4096 STN screen of Nokia 3650. The processor is not pretty fast. Although we give not good comments, we still remind our readers to wait and see because the samples we tried are still prototype. We really hope Sendo X notice that and can make improvement before its launch. We also tried the Now! Screen. The sample shown to us is not as complicated as MS Home screen, while it also makes a different feel from boring Series 60 interface. "

if no improvements are made, this is sounds like its gonna be one very average phone. (bearing in mind the arrival of phones with better screens and cameras on the market v soon)

im gonna be so angry if after all this time the phone is released full of bugs and nothing like its been hyped up to be.

thanx for the info

Reading other forums I see more and more people dropping the sendo-x and going for another SX1, SPV E200, .... and there is always something wrong with another smartphone:

- no stereo
- shite battery
- shite keyboard lay out
- shite OS
- not beeing able to use higher capacity memory cards

...finally a phone comes out which brings a 😃 on my face...
- shite release

yes ...still Im watching jamie oliver Shadow12 😊

mmm....

shite keys, SPV?
shite OS, MS mobile?!

maybe the late release will mean that it all works well?! 😮

Here's something for Dutch-speaking people:

Geachte heer,

I don't speak Dutch 😊 , but I got a hold on "april/mei". 😊

Anyways, here's the translation, in case somebody's interested in finding out the availability of the phone in the Netherlands.

useful tool for Dutch-to-English translation

All you peeps who find out anything about the Sendo X, post here!! 😊

Cheers,
mihai

The E1000 has a better spec than the A1000.

Now if they could make a Series 90 rather than UIQ version of the E1000, with a 640x320 display resolution, then that could well be the ultimate smartphone.

yes but not symbian

What is better in the specs of the E1000?I only found the 260000 colour screen.

Why would they make it Series 90.UIQ is a great User Interface, and IMO what about the most important factor, third party?None for Series 90.

BTW:Nokia doesn't license Series 90.

The E1000 probably runs on Motorola's proprietary OS.

Back on subject, I'm losing faith in the whole sendo x project now

It's been delayed over 3 months and nobody knows any reason why, Sendo have not published any information as to the reasons for the delays or given a proper launch date (just the standard, we are in the final stages of testing and hope to have the phone out within the next month)

Where does this leave us on the whole subject of support for the phone, if they can't support the release properly and keep us punters interested how the hell can they support us when it's finally released

Oh and another thing - STILL no news from any of the UK operators touting it as their new phone

Oh, I ditched my Nokia Pastie (tm) and got another new 7650 to tide me over, guess I'm gonna end up with a 6600

They don't give any confirmation or information about it's release and there's no price announced yet, just a ball park figure based on what the Italians are expecting to pay. Oh, and there's a barely readable comment at the bottom of the smartphone page on their website about not yet getting approval for the US market. What a great company.... NOT 😡 😉. They should have stuck to what they appear to be good at, cheap and nasty PAYG phones, leave the smartphones to the big boys 😉

If it's not released on or soon after the exhibition in Cannes they might as well forget it IMHO. My money's gonna go elsewhere now anyway.

And I think we wait about 6 months from the date Nokia announces a phone untill it's in the shops

I waited a lifetime for the 3650, had to get it on import in the end - it was another 3 months untill it was in the shops and on T-Mobile in the UK

So I don't think the delay is any worse than any one else.

Thou it's still very frustrating!!!

😞

But Seimens and Nokia don't have to pin their future on one new phone and its popularity within the market. They already have an established brand name so punters are willing to wait and accept the delays and they launch many new phones to the market each year. Most of their existing users will buy their brands again and again.

Sendo on the other hand is a small fish with next to no brand (apart from its cheap PAYG) and no real credibility as yet. I would have thought that by launching its flagship product and then delaying it over and over without any proper announcements will prevent it from gaining any credibility at all....

Why don't ask Sendo just close the company and pass the X project to the other reliable manufacturer, like Nokia or SE?! Mar 18 might not be the real release date as they will delay the release again.

Possibly because Sendo can't get the proper approvals to sell it in the US so it may never get there 'legitimately'. Mind you, it may never get here legitimately either 🙄 😉

Next week is the 3GSM exhibition in Cannes, one of the proposed official launch dates (for the Italians anyway). I'm gonna get a friend who's out there for the exhibition to see what he can find out....
