hello there 9210/9290 gurus, im having a problem with my communicator, actually with my data cable connection. It was just working fine a couple of days ago but for some reason when I plugged it in this morning, its not working anymore. The icon on the task bar alway show the "transferring data" icon, and thats pretty much it..it cant seem to detect the communicator, it is on the correct COM port and its plugged in pretty well, i don't remember having tampered with the phone or even dropping it so i cant seem to trace the root cause. What do you think guys? what could this be? could it be the data cable or the device itself? tnx!

Reboot the PC and reboot the phone. I haven't a clue but there's always one of the 2 cocks up (usually the PC side for me) and takes the other out. Every time I unplug my 9210 from my PC I have to reboot before I can use the cable to connect them again, it's very annoying.

😃 Hi Bolder, i think what u need is a little cleanup at the connection port of your phone... Here's a simple little trick that u can try....

1. Go and look for an eraser... the one which rubs off ink... (normally its grey coloured rough rubber...)
2. Rub gently around the connection port until it's crispy golden again...
3. Now try using the cable again...

 If this fails, it could be your PC software... It's rarely that the cable causing this...

😉 As for SWITCHBLADE problem... i got this problem like yours before... to fix it you need to install the latest version of PC Suite For 9210... are you using the latest??? the old ones are real buggy!!!

I am using the latest and it still goes wrong :-? so I mostly rely on infra-red to transfer files and avoid the PC suite.

Maybe connection connects with no problem but my navigator window always sais "No connection". Most of the time I have to reboot to get it working again but if that still doesn't work ... this is how I do it:
while I'm reconnecting I press refresh and does seem to do the trick (if I refresh when I'm already connected I get a timeout icon)

I have windows 98 on my PC at home and that works pretty well apart from the fact that it is so slow. Laptop at work runs XP and PC suite is virtually useless on this platform. \The link reconnects OK, but it seems to be completely unstable and always fails during any significant data transfer exercise. When there's no data transfer it remains connected quite happily.

I use MMC reader to move data to/from PC. Only limitations I have found are:

1) U can't use it to synchronise contacts / calendar with outlook, etc
2) U can't use it to install .sis files to the communicator.

I tried doin all those things..still wouldn't work, i even tried downloading different versions of PC suite, and tried rebooting both the PC and the device several times..still keeps on showing the transeferring data logo only whenev er connected to the cable..still no luck...help guys! could it be the cable?

...try another cable and if that works the problem is gone. Else you know THATS NOT the problem, so...
