I would go for the iPod.
I have one myself and it's a wonderfull piece of hardware, and there are lots and lots of accesoires for the iPod.
ok for the ipod if i already have music on my computer can i transfer them or do i have to buy them from i tunes??
and do i need a firewire port on my laptop??
You can use any track that's on your Harddrive, legal or not.
The tracks can be transfered by iTunes or MusicMatch,
but you'll soon prefer iTunes, believe me.
the iPod supports: MP3, AIFF, AAC, WAV an Audible.
You can connect an iPod with USB 2 or Firewire,
and your PC must run Windows 2000, ME or XP.
For more info, have a look at the official iPod site:
http://www.apple.com/ipod/
One more nice thing, the extra's.... 😊
I have given my iPod some nice extra's:
An infra red remore,
A mediacard reader,
A microphone.
The remote speaks for itself...
The mediacard reader can be used to empty mediacards from your camera. The pictures are stored on the HD of the iPod, and you can empty your card and go on with taking pictures. Ideal when you're going away for a few days.
The microphone can be used to speak memo's into the iPod.
Have a look at the iPod extra's:

Good for ya mate!!! I personally use the Archos av380 multimedia player.
good luck with your purchase.
woooah the picture just showed and thats a cool looking mp3 player
Orophin Anwarunya where did u get this?
i found this one that almost like itmp3 philips
i think its not a competiter for apple or samsung😉
You're welcome for the advice, and good luck with you're choise, even though the iPod has got the features you mentioned in your last post...
Be hey, if you want a cheap solution and don't care about quality, you should go for it.
😉
unsound there both the same price thats y i prefer the samsung comparing it to 15 gb apple the samsung has 20 gb and like i said before the samsung can be used in the car😉

And if you want, the iPod is also available in 20, 30 and 40 Gb.
Not to mention the fact that several companies are still making accesoires for the iPod, and I prefer a machine that can be upgraded/expanded when the time comes. And the iPod is unique in that perspective.
Oh, and here are some reviews of the samsung:
Terrible FM transmitter, no 12volt adapter available
The FM transmitter is worthless. There isnt a 12 volt cigarette adapter available in the US per Samsung. Mine didnt work with songs purchased from Napster, a real problem. The backlight is not adjustable and too dim to really help in a car at night. Would not recommend.
I would have given it 0 stars if it were possible
This very expensive MP3 player, cobranded by the reborn Napster company and South koreas Samusng, is best described as a very poor and expensive player. It uses a hard disk, but even the 30GB Apple iPod is much cheaper and looks and works 500 times better. Case in point: the central button on this thing is unmarked and at first you wont figure out what to do. The manual is as good as written in Koran so its difficult to understand. Worst of it all, the volume is pathetically low, and I was able to crash the player once by simply loading a few indie songs sent by my friends in Europe. I had to let the battery die out to restart the player. This is just ridiculous. Oh, finally, dont bother with the FM radio; theres constant interference and reception is just horrible. I cant believe they charge so much for this alpha test player. If you want good hard drive-based MP3 player, go with the iPod or if you have less money try RCA or Creatve Labs. Dont get this ugly product that just doesnt work at all

The device is not without its faults. You can't create playlists on the YP-910GS itself, as you can with iPods. Irritatingly, the songs list in alphabetical order rather than album order; you have to drag songs around in the library to reorder them, then transfer them back to the device.
You'll find just five equalizer settings on the YP-910GS versus the iPod's 22 and none of the games or time killers Apple's player has. You do get a wired remote, but the included headphones are subpar and the off-white leather case isn't too attractive.
The player's release coincides with the availability of Napster 2.0, Roxio's reincarnation of Napster as a pay service. Roxio's software lacks a sync button, so you have to drag all tracks over manually
You really are thorough, its kinda scary. You sure you dont work for Mango....i mean Apple!!!
I wish I was... 😃
No, but for real: I made some really bad choises in the past, and lost a great deal of money in the proces. So I always check out my options, and critisize them.
I used to buy the cheapest solution, or the best-looking. Now I try to make better discisions, based on the questions: what do I want from it, what is not important, and what are other people's opinions on those subjects?
Than it's a simple question of doing so googling, and being critic. I was doubting between the Philips HDD 100 you showed earlier, and the iPod. The philips was my first choise, because of the built-in option for recording MP3's. But why bother, when my computer can do that better? And there was the fact that there are dozens of accesoires for the iPod, with more on the way. So I made my choise.
Yeah, I too have read a few bad reviews of the Samsung in group tests. I think one was in PC PRO and another in PC Buyer (though may be wrong). Not sure I'd buy an iPod either though, what with Apple's horrific replacement battery rip-off!
But when it comes down to audio equipment, I find there is nothing like taking along a bunch of music that I'm going to listen to on the device to a store and having a listen to it, play with all the buttons etc. Try to ignore the salesperson who is getting more commision for one than the other and just spend a good half hour with each if you can.
Your ears and hands will tell you which one is best!

most iPod's play years with the internal battery, the whole problem was that some people lost their battery after 14 months and couldn't get it fixed under warranty.
But the fact is that the battery can be replaced if you wan't, for about 50 dollars.
I have two iPod's here at home, 1 old one [for my girlfriend] and one newer one [for me] and the old one is now about 2,5 years old, is used every day, and still has 100% capacity.

One could say the same about Nokia, but they arent the best on the market.
As was mentioned, its down to what you need, not what is popular.
My Archos is great, but I use my 256mb mp3 stick with fm (i-bead 150) most of the time, cos' its all i need really....80 songs is just enough for my 1 hour commute to work.
wow dude chill its just an mp3 player🙄
anyway i saw them both today and ur right ipod is better
ill be getting it by the end of the month
thanx for ur advise😃 😃 😃
by the way how do u connect it to a computer?
do i need to buy a wire?

Anyway, to connect to a PC you need either FireWire or USB 2.0, but it works faster with FireWire, because the iPod has that built in.
A FireWire plug looks like this:
If you don't have one you can iether buy a PCI slot with firewire, or use the UBS 2.0. But if you use USB 2.0 you have to buy a FireWire-to-USB cable for the iPod.
link to the USB-to-FireWire cable
Your computer has to run either:
- Windows 2000 SP 4
- Windows XP
If you want to use the iPod in your car there are 2 things you can do: use a FM trasmitter [iTrip] or use a cassete-adapter
I hope this answers your questions, and otherwise feel free to ask more.
P.S. I don't know what they cost in your country, but here in the Netherlands the 20 Gb version is a better deal. For 100 dollars extra you get 5 Gb more space, a dock [for placing it standing up] and a remote.

That turned out to be exaggerated...
Actually, that's untrue - at least in the UK. Apple have charged some UK iPod owners 100 for replacement batteries (that's nearly $200 at today's exchange rates). The UK government has actually shown interest in this with many MP's having signed a motion to citicise Apple for the move (see http://news.zdnet.co.uk/hardware/0,39020351,39119293,00.htm).
Apple have THEN responded by saying people can sign up to what is effectively an extended warranty, whereby they can get a replacement battery for 80 (nearly $140) plus P&P.
Now, for sure, this isn't a common thing. I have no doubt most batteries last years. But for those whose batteries died just outside the warranty this is a major problem and Apple should be ashamed.
Well, here in the Netherlands it wasn't so expensive. But here we chose the cheapest sollotion, replace it ourselves. The iPod is easy to open, and a replacement battery costs about 40/45 dollar.
But to set the record straight, I answer questions for a Dutch Apple forum with about 3900 members. Of all those members, none of them had trouble with their iPods so far.
i dont think my computer has firewire so guess im getting usb cable😞
more expenses.....
Firewire aint cheap in this country, 30 for a cable alone and the port is not standard on PCs. That said, check out Ebay, they got some great deals on iPods, accesories and that cable.
wow dude chill its just an mp3 player
hey!!! i'm not spitting fire and stuff, just stating my opinions....no crime!!!😛
lol....i'm cool....all my love for iPod and Mango....i mean...Apple!!😃

Damn, you should try to move to the Netherlands... FireWire cables cost around 10 here, and FireWire is almost standard on PC's.
[P.S. Apple's got FireWire 800 now, twice as fast as USB 2.0]
i always wanted a mac for one reason :they claim that it doesnt hang up
that to me sounds soooo goood but im soo used to windows i dont think i can switch😊
BEWARE THE IPOD. IT IS NOW OFFICIAL THAT THE IPOD BATTERY ONLY LASTS 18 MONTHS. IF YOU WANT TO REPLACE IT, THEN THE BATTERY WILL COST YOU ABOUT THE SAME AS AN IPOD.APPLES IDEA OF THIS IS TO GET YOU BUYING ANOTHER ONE.GO FOR THE SAMSUNG!!!!!!!!!!! IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME THEN GO TO GOOGLE AND TYPE IN "IPODS DIRTY SECRET"!!!!!!!!!!!!
