Password for memory card forgot!!

sorry but i think the only way that you can unlock it is to retrieve your password in any way. i have the same prob before.consult many technician, and even the nokia itself but to no avail. just try to retrieve your password, anyweis it dont have limit.
i also tried it using a card reader, and as ive said it wont work,just try to remeber ur password.

Please refer your User manual for 6600. It has a method of unlocking locked MMC card. (Beware though it unlocks - but all the data will be lost and ur card is as fresh as new).😊 😡

I can't fint it in my manual. I have the same problem as karthikeyan10. 😞

actually you can find your MMC password by using third party software such as "seleQ and FExplorere" which open "C:\system\mmcstore". send this particular file into your PC by IR. Opena the mmcstore with notepad of your PC...so you will find the password code.

Can anyone tells me which the password?
i had try all of them...
Argh.....Or is my memory been corrupted?
Is there any software that can remove the software?

there is no file called mmc store on my 6600
(ps i had the card on a 6230 and put the password onto there... then moved the card to my 6600 which wants the pass which i cant remember)

I have same problem forgot that password, but the other problem is that my phone was formated after the upgrade for the software to the new version for Nokia6600.

So I couldn't found that file in C: drive.

I want to try to make that file and put the text on it so if anyone have that file can put the full text that he can find in that file and tell me the password plz.

I'm going to buy the card reader but I need a solution till I get it.

There is no solution, I'm afraid. I.e., no way to recover the password, if you've forgotten it and reformatted your phone, too.

use any software like Fileman / FXplorer / SeleQ or any file browser for ur symbian smartphones (6600, 3650, 7650, N-gage).
1. Open any of above software you have.
2. Go to the directory, C:\system
3. Rename the file mmcstore to mmcstore.txt
4. Open the file.
5. The file will open in Notes.
6. You will find your password there itself. It will be in this form:

128 mb abcd123 $$dfe%
(mmc (u r (then some unknown
capacity) password) characters)

😡 It just seems that 6600 just sets password to the card after a reset...
things that have NOT worked. (By the way, i had no password on the card, before formatting the phone. So it must have set one itself...a random one...without telling me ... damn, Nokia, you really messed this one up !)

-Exploring for the mmcstore - i have just formatted the phone, so there is no mmcstore
-creating a blank mmcstore file - nope...does not work.
-using MMCPWD - "failed" ... since it needs the mmcstore file wich does not exist !...making a blank mmcstore and using mmcpwd....failed.
-coverning pins of the card (the last one, first one frm the cutout, or any other pin)- useless
-formatting phone with or without mmc card, in any order of hard format - soft format, no matter how many times etc...
-using passwords for wallet,card name,default passwords etc.
-killing wallet by code, setting new wallet pass, formating, using that pass
-formatting card in : card reader,via dos prompt, via BT,with communicator,with other smart phone,with other nokia via datacable...nothing will detect it once you have formatted it once in your phone, and if it will detect it, will just ask for password, or fail the format.
-freezing mmc for one night in the fridge (had to try)
-heating it up to the point of meltdown
-heating one side, while having an ice cube pressed to the other side
-using magnets to erase data...it just does not work like in the movies.
-throwing it in a beer glass, out of frustration
-throwing it with full force against the nearest wall... without the phone, of course...
-spraying if with a co2 fire hydrant - that probably got it to minus many degrees...

WARNING! backup your c:/system/mmcstore before formatiing the phone...

oh yeah, and the code is 16 digits long, so using a program to input random codes, will take aeons...or at least a few centuries....

The ONLY thing that will work, is chewing the mmc card up, then throwing it on the ground and stomping on it with large boots while screaming curses and bad words, at the top of your lungs, drill a hole trough it, cut it to pieces with an axe (i used a large woodcutter's axe, for best results) or a large pair of scissors, and then, finally, burning the pieces to ashes... Of course, it will destroy the card, but it's the only thing that will make you feel better after trying to get that mmc card unlocked for hours.

And then you get to make a trip to the store and buy a new expensive mmc card 😞

I hate you ppl.... i hate you all... i had pics of my ex GF, that died 3 years ago, stored on that mmc... those were NOT the things i wanted to lose !!!

I must have made THE most documented and extensive attempt at recovering a MMC card, and i can tell you this, for sure:

There is no easy way of doing it. I tried the card in almost every card reader/phone/player/camera and nothing can get past the password.

There IS a way of force-formatting it, thus losing all data. I was at a GSM service center, and they said they CAN force-format it, trough some kind of special PC interface, however it was expensive, and my card was only the default 32 MEgs, thus not worth it. It could be worth it if we were talking about 512M or 1Gig MMC's...
So, my phone now has a 256Megs MMC... wich was pretty uncalled for, i did not REALY need it...but...sigh...well...

ok...so. final conclusion :
Locked MMC, and mmcstore file gone due formatting, password forgot:
-impossible to recover data
-impossible to format card by conventional ways

dammit i said, when i tried all everything i can do to reformat the MMC in my 6600, still wont work, so instead of throwing it away and buy a new1, which will cost me feww hundred for a 512 mmc, i try to figure out what the pasword ive forgotten, n finally i get it! just try to remember ur secret question to ur password, it helpd!

use seleq, go to root c, find mmc store press ok, then send the file to your pc rename the to mmcstore.txt. good luck

Unlocking MMC Card on 6230

Ok i have a nokia 6230 and i've had the phone replaced but have keeped my original nokia multimedia card the problem is that it beleves that it is password protected!

I have tryed putting the card in another 6230 but to no success i have aslo put it into a card reader to see if i can read it and again i can't see it! it just hangs the card reader.

i have been reading your forum to see if anything on her will work but i can't seem to get the Fexplorer to work on my phone assume it not supported!

i would very much so like to retrieve the data on th card has any one been able to do a unlock MMC on a 6230 and if so how was it achieved!

I am not brilliant at doing this kind of stuff so if anyone can help a step by step guide to go with it would be really apperciated aswell

OK Here is 1 better. What if U do not have an "IR" phone...such as 2125i or other. Iget these and other nokias in from time 2 time as Ppl upgrade. Some have the"Security" and "Unlock" codes changed and I canot do much w/ them except use them as parts. In other words thedefault codes (as I know them) do not work. NE help??:frown:
