Have anyone of you ever felt that he/she is in heaven while was going perfect or even better than perfect and then everything goes wrong and you are IN HELL...

Well sth like that happened to me. While I had my exams for my university and going well on most of my corses I had a present. The long awaited SX1. Thankfully I got it on a period after the first halph of the exams and I had much free time to play with. So I did the usual things like playing and exploring and mostly loading a hell lot of apps. I must admit that everything was going very well. There were some incompatibilities with some apps but nothing else that bothered me.

Most of the testing with loading apps was finished and I started studying again. When I went back to the city where my university is the problems started. First after a hang up my phone restarted and a "beautiful" message after the restart apeared saying that the contacts file has been corrupted. To my bad luck I lost every single contact I had. Thank god I had my computer there (which also has many problems) which had a backup from my old 7650. It didn't take me long to change the contact.cdb file but it was VERY OLD (dated June 2003). But I said in my self that it would be ok until I'll return to my home city and restore the latest backup.

But the worst didn't come.

The same day I got a message from vodafone sayng that I have free wap gprs for a small period to trial the vodafone live! To my surprise the sx1 was not Vodafone Live! compatible even though it is identical to other Vodafone Live! phones like 3650 and my old 7650.But that was not a problem. So I visited an old bookmark.
What was it... Ah yeah

Although I couldn't reach the forum, I could read the news as well as reach some other wap sites like my-symbian.

There (AAS wap) I also found two little old freeware games that I knew from my 7650 because they were small, addictive and freeware:
Lines and rock-o-ban.
I installed them with no problem and I ignored the message telling me that these apps may be incombatible with the phone.
MY BAD LUCK.
After running Lines the program immediately closed giving me a system error. I pressed ok but after this was followed by many other error messages some of them involving the smartlauncher that was installed. I couldn't do anything else to stop these messages appearing than removing the battery.
After turning it off it continued givving me a system error and then switching off by his own. The same thing when I hooked up the charger. Until I removed the sim card and tryied again seeing then the please insert sim card message was a gift from the GOD. I hooked up the charger then and no problem appeared. Smartlauncher started and I immediately removed the two games.

For the nest 24 hours the phone was running flawlesly with no problems.

Unfortunate I made a mistake removing the mmc card and making smartlauncher (which is the only app installed on the phone memory, all the others were on MMC) to loose all the configuration with the folders and what they contained, so I had to rearrange the icons. But during this arrangement the error messages reappeared.

After that there is no way to start the phone. It cannot even charge the battery. When I came back I tried to re-install the firmware (after all this was the only way to boot up) but although the upgrade was successful the problem remained.

I am thinking to sending it to a service senter (just searching the receipt of bought for the warranty) and the only thing that comes to my mind is that I have lived that again.

I had quite the same problem with my 7650. Two days after I bought it I had the famous message "Start up failed. Contact your retailer." not even letting me to charge the battery. And I was without a phone for more than a month.

Now it is time to evaluate Siemens Service... (unless there is way to format the phone memory)

Will

Text another virgin mobile for 3p. 😛

Just a photo to show up the problem (when pluging in the charger because if you want to just turn on the phone it will turn off after a few secs)

By the way I am a little confused on where to put these two games (Lines and Rock-O-Ban).

On the "Not-Compatible apps" list or maybe on the "Killer apps"...😉

OK just to inform taht I got back the phone. I sent it on Friday and got it (actually my father got it because I was away this week) on Monday. I am very pleased by this small period of waiting considering that the day I sent it was followed by none working days.

And some comparison with the 7650 case I had more than a year ago

*7650 before service*
firmware : 3.16
IMEI Number: 351111101046241

-Repairing (?) period: 1.5 month-

*7650 after service*
firmware : 3.16 (No UPDATE although on the receipt was written a firmware update as the service and more than 2 months have passed then since the 4.xx versions have appeared)
IMEI Number: 350774103694499 (different as you can see which means different phone but unfortunately the cover-case was the same old!!!)

*SX1 before service*
firmware : 05 self updated to 06
IMEI Number: 352079000810653

-Repairing period : 3 days-

*SX1 after service*
firmware: 07
IMEI Number: The same

Lastly my few hours experience with ver 07 is very good. I haven't noticed any lock ups or reboots especially on some apps like the N-Gage games or Doom that I had them very often. It is also quite faster on the N-Gage games. Also the biggest improvement was the menu which now the loading time is about the same with that of the other s60 1.2 phones like 7650,3650 & N-Gage.
