SMS Tone

Make sure the wav is not corrupted, if there is a problem with tone then it will not show new msg received, i had this prob and just deleted the wav and re made it!
I am sure the two probs are linked but if you changed it to a default tone and it still doesnt work i dunno why????????????

The wav file plays in recorder.But the alert definately does not play when a message comes thru.Now i've accidently deleted my message centre number.Anyone got the centre number to o2 pay as u go?

The number you require is +447802000332.
You can enter it either way ie. +44 or 07
I would still try another wav mate coz any interference in the file and message will reject!

I took the phone back to carphonewarehouse and the guy managed to accidently fix it. he doesn't even know what he did...but its working at last...thank you for all your help

you must place waw file in drive c:\nokia\sounds\digital

I've had exactly the same problem this weekend on my standard GSM version 6600. Not using a WAV tone for the alert though, just the standard message midi tone from Nokia. I've tried resetting the profiles, rebooting the phone, resetting the phone using *#7370# and none of it worked. Has anyone else had this and know how they resolved it?

best thing to do is to take it back to where you bought it and maybe they'll exchange it for a new phone. mine resolved it by itself i think.maybe it needs a firmware update.

I've got the same problem, ie.. no little message box that says new message text and multi media...also when i've a missed call i dont know I've missed it (if that makes sense)....No tones for messaging of any sort....It was ok till yesterday.. and I'm not aware that I've changed anything at all?

Can anyone suggest anything as I didn't buy it from a shop, it was a private purchase. so I'm kind of stuck!

Whats a firmware update? and if thats whats needed how do i get it?

I've got the same problem on my 6670! So it looks like a Symbian Series 60 bug.
The phone doesn't display anymore the pop up window "1 new message" when I receive a SMS 😞
I didn't change the alert sound.
Any idea other than reinitializing the phone?

why not try a hard reset and format your memory card (all data will be lost). I think this will really solve your problem.

I 'm facing the same problem, I don't get SMS tone, in addition i the display don't show the arrival of missed calls or sms, just the small envelope in the upper right corner.
Don't any one know how to solve this,??????!!!!!!!!!

Just restart the mobile and every thing will be OK
