Infrared weirdness

Hi all, I've just purchased a 6600 (to replace my busted 7650) and already have a Sitecom IR USB device (latest drivers).
I used to be able to connect to Mrouter through this and transport files to and fro without any troubles but lately....

When I try to send a file to my computer it opens up the infrared port and the IR port says it has found a 6600 nearby, great!
However, my computer never actually receives anything and my phone claims it can't send the file....huh?

Naturally Mrouter doesn't work at all and the nokia connection manager only sees my 6600 when I'm (trying) to send a file to the computer (in fact, after a while it sees two 6600 and one unintelligable device).
Sending from my computer to the phone (when the IR line is open) doesn't work at all.
I'm terribly confused since it would appear as though there is some IR activity going on but neither the phone, nor the computer know what to do with it..

Does anybody here have any idea what it might be and if there's a possible solution? I'd love to restore my 7650 phone book and stuff to my new 6600!(I'm using XP, BTW)
Thanks
Peace, Ruben

try this..

go to control panel->wireless link->harware->properties
->advance and change the setting to VISHAY TFD or something like that.... then restart and see if it works.....

try changing the response time of your IR port. i had to increase mine from 1.0ms to 5.0ms
i worked . but sometime i too face difficulty

I have the same problem but in control panel->wireless link->harware->properties ->

I do not have setting like VISHAY TFD or something like that....

I have only the infrared speed ....

Any ideas what to do ?????? 😕

try going to control panel>system properties>hardware manager and then change the properties of the infrared device from there. this seemed to work wonders for me.
but still havent figured why i face problems in winXP, especially when i backup or restore the phone. the connection seems to get dropped at random.
this prob. doesnt exist with win98.

there really is a big problem with nokia connecting to windows xp. i still don't get it why nokia still doesn't produce a good and working communication suite for symbian phones !!

Windows XP Infrared has a lot of problems, but the biggest problem is in Series 60 phones.

In mine, the infrared communication is lost and restarted every 5 seconds for unknown reason. The same happened with all 7650 and 3650 phones I have tried, the same thing happens with 6600, in 3 different computers, with different IR adapters. No problems in these computers with other IR devices, only series 60 phones.

the connection is being dropped on winXP cause of a the infrared port's response time being too low. increase it to say 5ms it will surely help. but continuous uninterrupted connection is still not possible even after doing this.
if somebody good at trouble shooting device/peripheral management on winXP can look in to the matter it may help. definately looks like nokia never modified mRouter or the suite for winXP 😡

Mine works fine in any situations.
Win XP with latest SP and fixes. Compaq Evo N800c
