Samsung have announced a second Series 60 phone the D710. The D710 is tri-band GSM; it features include a megapixel camera (with flash), and an RS-MMC card slot. Further details shortly.
The status of a the D700 (whether it will be released or not) remain unclear.

I think with this announcement we can safely say the D700 is history.

P.S. that RS-MMC is getting popular it seems😃. Before today I had never heard of it, and this is the second or third device today that has been announced that uses it...
How can you be possibly sure that the E800 is the replacement for the D700? I mean, it says nothing about it being a Symbian phone...how can you be absolutely positively sure?
Who said anything about the E800? The D710 is symbian, the E800 (unfortunately) is not

I don't know if it's a replacement. I'm making the connection of:
d700 cancelled? -> d710 announced, and it's a slider phone -> e800 only slider phone at cebit.
I personally loved the design of the d700, so I'm by no means happy with the guesstimation.

How do you know that the D710 was announced, because I certainly haven't been able to find anything on this new phone...and if you'd paid attention, the E800 can't be it because it's not a Symbian phone! How in the world did you hear of a D710?
There's a bit more information about the phone on Infosync's website....http://www.infosyncworld.com/news/n/4746.html....looks interesting & borrowing design feature of the NK7650. Seems quite a small handset, however, none of the recent new handsets inspire me to give up my P900!...maybe Mot A1000...maybe not!...be interesting to see what SE come out with using UIQ3 with the one hand interface (assuming they don't get in a huff re: NK acquiring pons stake in symbian and stop making handsets for the platform! -they wouldn't shoot themselves in the foot like that though...would they?!)
Any more symbian handset launches imminent?...had loads in past few weeks...wait ages for product launches and they all come at once!...at least will have far more choice come upgrade time this year! Anyone got any info on Exposium 2004 (or whatever it's now called!)...like dates?

Did you guys see the amount of RAM available for users?? Pretty impressive IMO.
Only downside is that infosyncworld claims it has an antenna (although I can't see one on the picture, but It could be "behind" the screen when the keypad is down, anyway I'll check it out myself monday when I'm going to cebit😛)
The stubby antenna is behind the slide-up screen. Download the Samsung CeBit acrobat brochere and you can see a sideview of it (as well as all of their other phones... quite a few! a dozen or so?)

Well, Samsung was stupid enough not to release the D700...I really don't know Samsung anymore. Yes, I love the brand, but sometimes, they just don't make the right decisions about phone features like Nokia does!
There were also rumours that the unreleased D700 didnt had bluetooth. So maybe they made that mistake again.
I was at CeBIT today and had sometime to play with it. When I went to the connections menu there was stuff like infrared but NO BLUETOOTH. Maybe it will come but I doubt it.
That's what I always hated about the samsung phones allready, no bluetooth (although IMO that is the only lack on most samsungs), but a smartphone without bluetooth is unacceptable
When you were fiddling with the D710 today, were you able to find out the video recording capabilities of the smartphone? Were you able to find out how long it's able to record?
If I remember correctly there was a video recording app (don't kill me if it's not true), but I didn't pay attention to how long it was able to record. I mainly watched for the bluetooth functionality, since I find that more important
