Yes the forum has been updated.

What other thing would you like to see?
Features / layout etc etc.

What do you think of the new stuff.

Feedback appreciated.

Question regarding Avatars

I went into User CP and clicked on Edit Avatar and I can't find the field to upload a custom Avatar, just to delete it

It looks great, but might take me a while to get used to everthing, my eyes keep going to parts of the screen, that i am used to being one thing, and i find something else there.

The way people's details are now arranged in the threads, with gaps in between makes it easier for me to see whats going on. The "last posted yesterday" tabs are more helpfull than the old date tag, and seeing if someone is online is a nice touch aswell.

I like the drop down menus ect and that i can choose as soon as i post somethin whether i want email notifications. And this new reply box is very fancy, rich text editing, i haven't seen that on a forum before.
😃 Am i the first person to use the rich text editing, wow do i get a prize?

Well i could go on for a long time about how great this forum is but i'm tired so good-night. 😊

I was going to say :

Oh i forgot i think it would be cool if the private message screen could be more like an email account, with a tool box at the side for easier navigation, and email notifications when a user recives a private message would be good, sometimes i get them and don't notice their there for days.

But then i checked it and found it all updated, guess you're one step ahead of me or mabey its too late for me to think properly.

Mabey members could have an @allaboutsymbain.com email address and from the email account page they would have a seperate folder for private messages ect.

I think you have to delete an existing avatar before you can upload a new one. In anycase this seems to work OK for me. Please let me know if you continue to have a problem.

I'm afraid there's no prize available 😉 Glad you like the forum. Please let me know if you have any more feedback.

I'll look into getting some more smilies.

The colours are a bit dull, but they fit in with the rest of the site. I'll be adding some more styles (one of which will be the one used on the test forum) which will be user selectable.

When I go to edit avatar, the box says No Avatar Specified
and 2 buttons Save Changes & Reset Fields

When I click the Reset Fields button nothing happens

You should see a input box with a browse button to the right (this is just above the two butons you mention). Once you have browsed to the avatar in your computer you can clciksave chnages and it will be uploaded.

The picture below shows what I see when I go to the edit avatar option.

I cant see that imput box your talking about.

colors are really good... i like blue😊 and smileys are more colorful now as i see 😃 . and as cuddlers89 said, i need some time get used to it 😛 . and post message screen is really enchanced, it's great. The new forum is great in summary, thanx Rafe...

Sorry this was my fault. The permission setting didn't come over entirely correct. Registered users should now be able to upload a custom Avatar.

I have to say I'm not too keen on the new look 😞 I don't like having to post a minimum of ten characters - that's a bit of a problem in the words games in Waffle Games. I also find the posts too far apart to read down smoothly - though that could be something I'd get used to.

Maybe I'm just moaning lots :P

I removed the character requirement, that should fix things for the games - sorry I forgot completely about them 0 it was one of the default option on upgrade. 😞

Soon(ish) there'll be an alternative style to choose that compacts everything together a bit. I actually agree with you. For exampe I'm not too sure I like the user info above the post (I prefer the old way on the side). I'm going to change this so its a user choosable option (currently only I can switch it back and forth).

Moaning is good. It tells me what's gone wrong.

As always it will take getting used to but it seems like an improvement 😃

One thing I would like is the ability to view dates in the good old dd-mm-yyyy format rather than the US mm-dd-yyyy. Is there a setting? I can accept most Americanisms like differences in differences in spelling and word meanings but their date format makes no sense to me at all.

My favourite part is that when a search for new posts is made if in the result there is more then one page in the thread there are links for the first few and the last page of the thread.

Is there a "view today posts" option?Like in the old forum.

Quick reply is nice but it needs more options to it,like shortcuts for smileys,vB code(quote's etc etc).Could the quick reply always be active so that i don't need to press the Quick Reply icon?

I'd make having the user info on the side the default (as it was in our old forum!!!) and the top layer look as the switch.

Whats the new button with the tick and cross by the message number for? It says add to reputation! I for example have just added to Ewan's reputation but I'm not sure in which way this effects him 😉

I'm not too keen on the new layout either. It may be more functional, but the colours are way too bright, which makes it hard to distinguish between read and unread posts etc. The font is also way too tiny on my high resolution laptop screen, I can hardly see the writing.

Any specific colours? They should be exactly the same as on the old forum. The one exception to this are the grays which are in fact a lighter shade now (for the very reason things were hard to read).

Unread posts should be in bold, where as read post are not (in forum listings anyway).

I should be able to whip up a style with larger fonts this evening.

Rafe

I've now changed the dates settings to the UK format 😊

The reputation thing is a new feature which in theory allows you to praise good or bad posts thus identying good and bad posters. Not sure how well it would work, but thought I might as well enable it for a while to see how it went.

I've add a new style (this was quicker to do than I thought). I've increased all font sizes by 2pts. You can choose this new style either through the User Control Panel or (and this is quicker) there is a drop down box at the very bottom right of all forum pages. You should be able to choose from AAS and AAS Large Font. Choosing one will switch the style over.

Raven (or others with this problem) I would be grateful if you could let me know if the text size needs to any bigger. It looks OK for me at high resolution (and a bit too big at normal resolution). If necessary I can add another super sized font style 😉

Cheers
Rafe

Wow, that was quick, thanks Rafe! 😊 Yes, the AAS Large font is much better. About the light colours, the most annoying thing for me is the "forum home" view where it is (for me) hard to see which forum section has had new posts since me last visit.

Thanks Rafe!

and Rafe the text that shows you where you are in the forum ( like All About Symbian Forums > General > Community Waffle > New forum is here ) can be written in a larger font, in old forum it was better i think.

how about making us also choose the style of the furom,
for example u can choose wiether u want the old style or the new style or another diffrent syle.

one more thing the "hot topic with new post" picture is the same as "hot topic with no new post" or are my eyes deciveing me?😃
