downloading a c++ app to a symbian device

Hi
anyone can answer any of these questions ?
1)how can I download a C++ exe to a symbian device via the internet ?
( mime type configuration and what ever is related to this issue would help )
2)how do I get the symbian OS connect software ( which is used to download files from my PC to a symbian device ...) and with which connection does it work ?

thanks in advance

Make a .sis (Symbian Installation System) package (sisar or makesis or IDE tools).

Correct .sis MIME type is application/vnd.symbian.install

From a PC you can just use OBEX file transfer (over infrared/IrDA & Bluetooth) typically without any extra apps. Other than that, get the phone vendor's respective "PC Suite".

If Nokia, there is (or at least used to be) a "PC Connectivity SDK", too. Search http://forum.nokia.com/ for that.

thanks a lot ,
I will try these options.

Hey,

You can download an application to a symbian device without any special software. All you need is an IR or bluetooth adapter on your PC. You'd be best of if you used a notebook since most of these already have at least an IR port you can use to upload your SIS file to the device.

how can I use the note book ? (lost you there ...)

He meant that as a notebook has an Infa red port on it, you can beem your apps directly to your phone with it, without needing to buy adapters.
