LOCKING the bluetooth and infrared for sending sis/jar/awb

That is nice!At least there is a "choice".Unlimited video recording or loosing 90% of your BT/IR functionality.

Well the way around that was to rename the sis file for example to .si and the other person can recieve it and open it with the ending .si and not .sis without renaming it back to sis as for midis /jar and awb just rename it to jpg or something and the recipent renames it with a third party app back to sis, jar, awb etc etc

There will always be a work-around but I find this limitation very stupid!
From all points of view.

Have you tried this or you are just guessing?

I renamed a mid file and it sent it w/o problem, after this I renamed it back and it works

uummm what do you think??OF course ive tried it,whats the reason mentioning it in here if i havent!!!!!

You're best off not even trying. If you find such, it is against the wishes of Nokia and probably also illegal in most countries. Using it also requires relatively expensive equipment.

If you want to have it on your phone, find the nearest authorized Nokia service center and let them upgrade your phone. Find them here:

Someone knows where can i find/dowload the new firmware ?

Federico

Dear Federico,

you can't download it.

You must bring your mobile to a Nokia Service Centre in your area.
If your phone is covered by a warranty it'll be free of charge.

If not they may charge a (small) fee.
(Something around USD 12 here in Turkey)

Anyway, think twice before updating...

Who wants it anyway???????????

v3.42.1 has a few problems (although i have been lucky and have only had 1 or 2)

v4.09.1 has been out a couple of weeks and the problems/edit of functions is already causing an uproar.

to find the firmware version of ur fone all you have to do is type "*#0000#" with out the quotes.

I'll stick to my version 3.42.1 until such time they figure it out or correct the problems on version 4.09.1 😃

Hi,

just to say that i've got the 3.49.2 fimware version (20-01-04) (phone bought in France...) and i haven't got "factory" bugs.....
most of the softs works perfectly......and Bt & infrared works...

maybe a good alternative ?

ZeroHour - Anyone got any ideas if UK can get this?

yes you can..got mine done today as i was having problems with my old firmware...

Hi all,

I just got my Nokia flashed a few days ago... it was facing quite a few problems, mainly spontaneous reboots. However, the new version (4.09.1) seems to be worse.

The good part: the menus are faster.

The bad part: read on....

For starters, my startup graphic (the nokia tune with the video of the hands touching) seems screwed up. I saw a few other flashed 6600, they all had the audio only halfway thru the video, after which even the video seems to miss a few frames. Not important, but someone's not been careful!

My main worry is that even tho the phone doesn't seem to reboot when it's just lying there, it DOES reboot more often WHILE I'm using it. While speaking on the phone, many times the sound gets 'stuck', like a DJ running a very small audio loop... I can disconnect the call, but I have to restart the phone if I had to use it, otherwise it won't recieve/make any more calls.

Sometimes, while quickly scrolling thru the gallery, the phone reboots. If I do it slowly, it works... but when I use the stick to move down quickly, it just reboots!

I can't send any jar/sis etc. files, which is very silly. I have many game demos (such as Price of Persia) which I wanted to pass on to a friend, but I can't do that. Doesn't that hurt the software companies? I thought these things (specially local comm such as IR and BT) WERE meant for sharing stuff? The least they can do it to have the non-sharing constraint only on files that have copyright info, or maybe are specially marked?

A question: How the HELL do I save stuff from my Inbox to somehere I want, but not in messaging folders!!! I have some files I sent via BT. I was using eBook reader to access these files, but I have to go via the Inbox to use the file. Damned Messaging only allows me to make folders INSIDE messaging! And it's tooo much of a pain to use FExplorer to try to find the file, in the jungle of folders in the system\mail folder!

Last question: can I somehow get my last firware back?

In the New firmware version they have changed this:
"field default mode changed to numeric in SMS and MMS"

Here is my Problem:
I dont want to change to alphabethical mode EVERY time im about to send a SMS..

Does anyone know how to change the default mode to alphabethical?????

PLEASE!!!
