Can anybody in the UK reccomend a place to get my 7650 unlocked?
I know Gizmotronics (A mobilephone-user's paradise! It's like Toy R Us size but with 1,000's of amazing mobilephone spares and add-ons) Can unlock it but they want 40(!) and unlocking.co.uk (or something like that) want 35 + P&P.
UK networks will do it for 35, why would anyone want to go to some datacable using cowboy for 40?!
I know DVD's2000.co.uk are waiting for their equipment to arrive, but until then, anyone know of anyplace else?

Unlocking a phone means that you can then insert a sim card from any phone network and the phone will work.
For example, if you take a vodafone sim and put it in an orange phone, the combination won't work unless the said orange phone is 'unlocked' and then you can use your vodafone sim (or any sim).

I'm getting an orange 7650 tomorrow and i would like to get it unlocked officially from orange. The problem with orange is that they don't like unlocking phones as i got a t68 on orange and had it for 3 months and they are still getting problems in getting the unlock code for me. Had to resort in a cable and unlocked it myself and took les than a minute. Think i just have to wait for the unlocking kit to be available.
You normally have to wait until your 12 month contract runs out before they will even consider giving you the unlock code. And even then you normally have to pay a fee. It's all because they want you to complete the minimum contract term because of the subsidy.
I'm always a little wary of DIY unlock kits. You should never should use the first ones that come out just in case it creates a very nice Nokia branded paperweight 😊

Both of the UK's 'phone locking' networks offer an unlocking service for their customers
Orange & T-Mobile will unlock handsets for 35. Their terms & conditions specify that you must:
1) Have been signed to the contract for a minimum of 1 month.
2) Not have had an upgrade in the past 4 months.
3) Commit to the network for 12 months from the request date.
