I just bought Kingmax 128MB MMC card and it does not work. First it detects but cannot do anything to the card. I formatted the card same thing happen. Now The phone cannot even recognised the MMC. Anyone can help me please?

hey mate i bought a 128 mmc that didnt work but i think the problem is that if you try to do something to like dlete on MMc on the 9210 it corrupts itand so it wont read it..if you want to read the MMC again you need to get someone elses Nokia 6600 or 3650 and format it there and then put it back in..it works..

Hello,

This problem is a well known problem. In fact, some MMC doesn't work in the Communicator : it depends of the manufacturer.
For example, I've bought a 128 Mb from Sandisk and it didn't work , but the 128 Mb from PNY works perfectly. MMC from Dane-Elec works perfectly too.

For more information, just have a look on this german website : http://www.nc9210.de/index_flash.html
Select "Speicher & MMC" and then "Die Speicherkarte".

Best regards,

Alain

I have tested a 512 mb mmc @ cebit and worked fine. I an waiting for lg to bring the 1Gb mmc 😊

MMC cards are very unreliable if you do not know their individual requirements. For example how can you expect a phone to recodnise an MMC if it has not been formatted. If you don't formatt the card before you start using it, you've just lost 30.00 as the card will now become unusable. I have done this 3 times now and luckly the cards were covered by a 5 year garrantee so I was not out of pocket. Below I have a few steps in how to set up your mmc for your mobile.

1) As soon as you put the card into your phone go to tools and select FORMAT (THIS CAN TAKE UP TO 20 MINUTES BUT IT IS ESSENTIAL FOR ACTIVATION) Do not do this if you have low battery as you run the risk of your phone turning off and the card corrupting for good.

2)After you have formatted the card and when you feel ready to put files onto it, link your device to your PC (preferably using a USB cable as bluetooth is too unreliable) and go to MY COMPUTER. Your phone or device will show up as (F😃rive) and double click on that symbol.

3)If you have formatted your card correctly you should find about five different folders titled (MUSIC, VIDEOS, IMAGES, OTHERS ETC.) To place files in these specific folders right click on them and select explore, then select MY DOCUMENTS and double click the file which you would like stored on your MMC card. Then your file is copied to your card.

4)The next step is very important so be very carefull, after you have disconnected your phone turn it off and leave it for about 1 minute so the data has time to store correctly in it's folders. After 1 minute turn your phone back on and go to tools and select memory card. It should then display the storage that you have used and how much space you ahve left. If the message (MEMORY CARD CORRUPTED) appears formatt the card immediatly and follow again from step 2 but turn your phone off first!

5)Now every time you put new files onto your card follow steps 2,3&4 and remember to turn your phone off after storing new data onto it. If the message (MEMORY CARD CORRUPTED) appears even after the card has been formatted the card is now unusable and will need to be replaced. The best MMC card I have used is the CARPHONE WAREHOUSE'S own make card. It sells for around 30.00 for a 128mb card and it holds data securely with minimal data corruption. The cards that I would steer clear off are made by BYTESTOR and they are vey poorly made and they corrupt before you even put any files onto them.

If you would like any further information about MMC cards please email me @ [email protected]

Any feedback would be nice as I would like to know if I have helped anyone with their problems.

Thanks Johnnyx

How's that possible? I thought the 9210, 9210i and 9290 didn't support memory cards bigger than 128 MB.
