My worst made decision on buying the sx1 at SG$900!!!!

The fone good qualities is so little compared to the bad.
good side. unique design.
mmc slot at the side.
stereo speakers.
fm radio.

THE BAD.
unstable system.
uncompatible softwares installed will prevent phone from starting up.
(means trips up and down to siemens center!!!!)
BAd buttons layout. (3650 dint even take me long to get used to...1 week)
sx1 2months later.... still can get used to buttons.
Stereo speakers Lousy....
Many games or softwares imcompatible.
u cant do a hard reset should u cock up yer fone.

Hmmm I can't share these feelings...

Unstable? I have Firmware 7 and my phone is very stable. What doesn't work for you?

Software I currenlty have installed alot of Series 60 software and everything works just fine. I also toyed around with alot of software right when I got my SX-1 and yes some of it did not work - but I got a newer Version and it worked just fine. It all depends what software you install - just like on a PC. Alot of Nokia 6600 also have the problem with software - thats because the software producers have not updated their software (yet). You cannot blame the hardware for software that does not work. Or do you blame your PC manufacturer if Game X or Application X don't work?

Buttons Well sorry - but you knew that when you bought the phone didn't you? I have the phones about two weeks now and I can type SMS/MMS pretty fast now, not as fast as on my old T610 but the more you use it the faster you get. If you are unable to speed up your typing do not blame the phone - the keypad layout was obvious before you bought the phone!

i am one FW 7. FOR YOUR INFO.

SOftwares : U DUN GET THE PROBLEMS OF NOT BEING ABLE TO START YOUR PHONE WHEN U INSTALL WRONG OR INCOMPITIBLE SOFTWARES ON NOKIA'S.

wHEN U GO CRAPPING WITH ME ABOUT WINDOWS OR SOMETHING. (I DUN USE PRODUCTS FOR MAC ON A PC COZ ITS NOT WRITTEN FOR WINDOWS)
BUT THE SX1 IS A SYMBIAN. DID U NOT KNOW THAT?

DID U LOOK AT THE THREDS HERE??? THAT MEMPHIS HAS CREATED AND UPDATED TIME TO TIME??? I AND A FEW OTHERS DID A TRAIL AND ERROR.... WITH GOOD AND BAD NEWS RE: WHICH WORKED AND DINT.
U DINT DO SHIT..... DUN GO TALKING AS IF U OWNED ME...
a FEW OF US TOOK CHANCES FINDING OUT WHICH SOFTWARES WORKED AND WHICH DINT. AND IM PRETTY SURE ITS INFORMATIVE FOR NEW USERS.

YES I KNOW S/W PRODUCERS HAVE NOT YET UPGRADED THEIR PRODUCTS.
THEREFORE.................................. MOST PROGRAMMES WRITTEN WERE FOR 7650, 3650 OR 6600.
BUT WITHOUT THE COMPATIBILITY ISSUE HERE. WOULD U EVEN KNOW WHAT WORKED OR NOT???

PEOPLE LIKE YOU. DO NOTHING FOR OTHERS........ BUT MAKE A SHIT LOAD OF NOISE.

FOR THE KEYPADS. THE BUTTONS WERE TO CLOSELY SPACED. THEREFORE SINCE I HAD BIG FINGERS ITS NOT THAT EZ TO USE..
U WILL NEVER KNOW HOW BAD IT IS UNTIL U'VE TRIED IT FOR A CERTAIN PEROID OF TIME. I GAVE IT 2 MONTHS....

WE LIVE WITH SOME ISSUES WHILE HOLDING ON TO MY SX1.
BUT THESE WHERE THE MAJOR PROBLEMS FOR ME.

k2bk2bk2b,typing in caps or using offensive language wont exactly get your point trough.Like i said in another thread, you were unlucky. The same problems occur on any Series 60 device not just the SX1.The 6600 has even more software problems then the SX1

Ghost.......

its not unlucky.......
siemens change my whole fone 2times total.
its not a good phone to me bacially.

With all my nokia's i dun get this kinda problems.
(i no longer support nokias anyway........ fed up with nokia long story..... they r making consumers broke)

BUT the main things is after what i have done for everyone, testing wares and products.
risking killing the sx1 when it cant reboot. running back and forth to siemens center.....
i dint blame the s/ws. its the sx1....
it a symbian.... but is far frm nokia too me......
the worst part was having to run up to siemens each time the bloody fone wont on.

after 2 whole new replaced sets. its still the same.

Well i dun get such problems with 6600 or any nokia symbians for that matter...
no matter what happens we could always do a hard reset on nokia.
u cant even turn on the sx1 for that..............

it pisses me of when i've contributed and craps happens to me.

would u juz ban me or whateva u wish too...
i dun care.

Well I must say you are right but also you are wrong.

Firstly the problems with the phone not able to boot is most of the time caused by corrupted files on the phone memmory. Strange thing is that you will hardly see corrupted files on MMC. So any corruption made is usually by third party apps that are messing with system files. SX1 was not a stable product especially to firms prior to 07 so the many hang ups could lead to corruption of files especially the ones that are open by the system. An expert can say that this is a problem occured mainly by the file system of the OS but I would blaim also SIEMENS for not having stabilised the system for the different hardware they use. So yes you are right SX1 is far away than perfect and has many flows.

But you are also wrong. Firm 07 has solved many stability problems and although the corruption of files is not tottaly cured it can be cured easily. I only had 2 files corrupted a sis and a jpg and my phone is full of apps messing with system files (lots of Symbianware and PSILOC's). I also never had the no booting problem after updating to 07. So I think you are a little unlucky also.

The key arrangement really sucks but compared to 3650 it is much better and more productive (my opinion). 3650 key arrangement just didn't have any excuse to be there.

And about Nokias I don't think they are perfect either. I have a friend that has a 3650 and had a similar problem like us, not booting. Surprisingly she is not the type that install apps, not even java, just the basics, taking pictures and recording videos nothing else. I also had problems with my 7650 some time ago (search the forum if you want info).

So no offence ment, and it is very silly anyone to ban you for expressing your opinion (Ghostdog just made a note for the CAPS used) but I strongly believe you are not totaly wrong. But also not totaly right.

I hope you won't have any problems again...

Have you owned other Series 60 devices, aside from the SX1?My 7650 was replaced once.I had to take it two times to a Nokia Service Centre because it was unable to boot up and i couldn't do a hard reset. The same thing happened once with the N-Gage so like i said,it happens on all Series 60 devices.

Ghost. yes..... i have had symbians since 7650.... moved to 3650.....then the 6600.
reason why i left nokia...... is because of the way the keep coming out new products, when 3650 wuz launched, i honestly had to sell my 7650 for it..... coz 1 new great thing mmc support......less than a mth after buying it, news was out with the launch of 6600.... hardly 3mths later, the price of 3650 has droped to less than half of its orginal price. i got suckered and bought the 6600, less than a week of owning it, 6620 wuz annouced. if u recalled... it had stereo speakers, edge..... the 1 main thing 6600 lacked off to me.... though the 6620 didnt officially launch. but knowing nokia, if the decided to flash it for gsm 900/1900 to 900/1800 i would die frm the price drop.
Nokia's price issint exactly stable.... being an avid nokia fan... to a nokia hater...... price drop wuz to much for me. monthly lossing 100 juz like that.... lately nokia's new releases over her (6230 and 7200) less than a month and the price drops by $100. thats only 2 weeks since the launch.
but one thing i never had with nokia.... even on installing wrong programmes may it be for 7650 but i installed it on 6600, the phone will never have problem like being unable to restart....

now the reboot is really important coz, if there's any error in system files, u will be able to rectify it. delete system files or uninstalll the apps.
Well with the sx1 if u had a problem, u could only bring it to siemens center for a reset. there is no code. no shortcut. what good is that when a symbians all about apps games... and programming fun?

Ghost and memphis @

the sx1 wuz annouced since the launch of 3650, it dint appear in markets until early this year. Siemens announced a symbian with setreo (wow)....radio (wow)...... but kept giving excuses that it was not ready for launch. Yet after so long they stilll launch an unstable product.

I never had problems with F/W 5, 6 or 7. the problems i encounted wuz thur installing apps.
c'mon, im using a symbian. i shld be installing tons of apps and games.... thats why i bought a symbian.

consider it this way. 7650 wuz the 1st symbian fone in the market regardless of the manufacturer. the sx1 is at least the 3rd or 4th. couldnt they get it right by then.

anyways im off symbians for now. Sendo with empty promises... a fone that has yet to launched a year after its public release news...............
sx1 being a total nightmare for me.......................
nokia for its ridiculous price drops.

Thanx guys, i had fun coming and learning in this forum

aparently (mines on its way) if you hold * and # whilst booting, it will do a hard format. aparently works with the shift and c keys instead.

Enf...

nah..... it dosent work at all.............
i've tried frm pressing 1 key to everykey together when turning on the phone....
sigh....

@k2bk2bk2b: I tried alot of software myself and also non working software, that was not the phones fault but mine ( using Software specificially designed for a 3650 for example ) - but all that happend ( lucky me ) was that the program did not work.

Anyway, since I am with GhostDog when he says that your posts are very hard to read so I won't reply as well.

Wish you the best of luck with whatever phone you are going to get...

You cant mess up SX1 so bad that it even wont start at all. Like a pc, SX1 also very first starts from bios or similar - after then starts the OS. So if you mess up the OS just format the phone with format function of the bios; powering on with * and # pressed down. After that you can can format the MMC with the again working OS.

I wish Windows was as easy to reset 😊
