Hi,

I've checked the threads for the new fw but I couldn't find anyone complaining about some strange behaviors of the phone which I've experienced with the new OS and which I HADN'T before.

Nokia seems to continue their tradition in introducing useless sw versions for their premature phones which make them even worse.
Fixing some bugs, but adding others as well as new limitations or even restrictions..

However..

I'll mention them two of them here and I'd appreciate if some users would confirm it (or not):

1. Startup sound & image:

Startup sound is not being played up to the end. It breaks somewhere at the middle of the melody.

The animation of the shaking hands is getting locked for half of a second and then continues, just before the hands come together.

A Nokia service center has 'informed' me that they have received many complaints about that. I've been told me that it depends on the sim card since there would be a phase at startup where the phone is trying to read some data on it. Nonsens. Didn't this phase exist in the previous OS ?
I have tried it with other sim cards from my friends and nothing's changed.

2. File Manager:

Has anyone noticed during file installlation from 6600's own file manager that the 'Installation....' dialog box flashes.
In addition (also during installation) the 'Opening......' dialog box, interferes now and then. And it does not matter where the installation file is located and which memory you choose for the installation.

This has not happened to me with 3.42.1. It also seems as if the installation takes longer than with the previous OS.

Today I've tried to install a file with FExplorer. Success.
No flashing. Nothing. Stable and very fast.
(My congrats Dominique. Nokia may take some lessons from you in creating & developing a file manager app...)

There are of course many other bugs....
But none of them are acceptable.

And some even incredible...

For example menu items...

If you switch the phone to German you will notice that both 'Move' and 'Move to folder' are indicated ( in German) menu as 'Verschieben'. So you have 2 x 'Verschieben' in your menu.

Hey Nokia... What's up ?

Ozkan.

Thanks for your post, petran..

Yes, I've already read them.

The reason why I've decided to start a new thread is that I couldn't find anyone here complaining about the issues I have with my phone after upgrading to 4.09.1.

Btw, yes, the menus have become visibly faster (as a result of increased ram ?), but everything else has become slower.

The speed of third-party apps, web browsing, sending sms (especially if the phone has to put a GPRS connection on hold), deleting sms, copying files and folders, etc.

And the worst thing is that you do not have a chance to roll back to the previous sw version. Or, that is at least what they've told me at the NSC points.
They are telling that flashing rom with the previous fw is not possible because it is being rejected by their equipment.

Really smart guys there @ Nokia.

Ozkan

ozzy_1971, some users reported that they've convinced the NCS to downgrade their 6600 and I have no reason not to believe that. The excuse they gave you does not sound very convincing to me...

I am too amazed that very few people seem to bother about the new firmware issues! 😱 :frown:

Efharisto poli, petran..

I don't know..
Maybe it is possible. Maybe this is just a pretext of Nokia...

Anyway, I have checked with some of the NSC's here and they've all told me the same.

Regards,

Ozkan
