OT: Nokia "Luxury" division

Apparently www.vertu.com is Nokia's luxury phone division. Man, you have to book an appointment with them, and oh, it's not a phone, it's an instrument! :-?

Pretty sweet though. Prices start at 6000. (jeez, that's about 3800) 😞

The first images of the Vertu range were released way back at the begining of the year, not long after the Nokia press release. They were over priced (obviously) and very underpowered at the time, even more so today. Nokia promise to upgrade the software at least bi-quarterly to adapt to new shifts in technology, but you'll always be stuck with the same monochrome screen. :-? I'm sure Gwenith Paltrow & Tom Ford would have been better off with a pair of custom made Motorola V70's (Not avalible in the US) if they wanted an exclusive phone but some stars obviously have far more money than sense 😊

The "top of the range" instrument is 24,000 euros. (Platinum)
Is there a need?

I guess it's a question of where you draw the line. Looking at your site I see you're in to bikes, so I'm guessing that you have a bike that costs more than I would be prepared to spend. Then again, I drive a Merc, not because I need one but because I want one.

..... :-? We really do live in the land of plenty.

I suppose, but there is a lot of difference spending 4000 on a bike and spending 18000 on a phone....sorry instrument. 😊

But then again I get told all the time 4000, you could buy a car for that!!

ah everyone has their hang ups
for some women its shoes or clothes
for some guys its cars cars cars
for some its bikes
others its accumulating vast amounts of portfolios and shares and stocks
and for me its technology

I will pretty much pay anything for the latest in technology
I mean 17" LCD monitor, now the 7650, my Flatscreen tv, and all the other upgrades to my pc and what not, I just love the bigesst baddest technology yet my mates whilst impressed just cannot comprehend it

I think everyone just has their different hangups I mean, unless I was literally a multi millionaire I cant comprehend spending more then $20,000 Australian Dollars(AUD) for a car, where as I have freinds who have taken out loans and brought $37,000 cars, etc just things like that

Eitherway my theory on it all is, if your gonna get some use out of it, and ya gonna enjoy it, and its gonna give ya a good image 😉 then run with it, ya money aint gonna be good to ya when ya die, and unless ya got a few thousand it aint earning that much intrest, so go buy a phone outright, and while ya at it go pay $350 for a pair of sunglasses, coz they look sweet 😊

Each to their own I suppose. The problem with me is a have too many interests. there's my 4k bike, I run 2 phone contracts 6 months apart and don't use 1 just so I can have a new handset every 6 months. Constantly upgrading my PC, TV, and stupid gagets that I get bored with in 3 weeks.

I'm like a little kid in a toy shop with his daddys gold card. :P
