I'm glad you have got you Sendo X and are happy with it.

I did try the SmartMovie program, as requested in a forum here, and it ran OK (as per the images I posted). I was not really familiar with the program however to say if it was going OK or not. I will investigate this now though if you think there is a problem, against a 6600 and SX1, and see how it works in comparison. Can you PM me with a movie link you have for further testing, as that would help.

As for JAVA, the 6600 runs MIDP2.0, and the Sendo X runs 1.0, so there will be some differences. Is there a particular game or application you have a problem with ? I have tried quite a lot of games (it's a tough job ! 😊 and speed did not seem to be an issue at all. I am not sure of too many JAVA applications, as most utility programs tend be be in SIS format, but again, PM me with a list and I will look into it more for you. I want it to be quick too !

Have you filled up the 32MB of disk yet with lots of nice apps and games ?! 😊

I don't want to sound offensive or anything plinkykev, but how soon? A week? A month?? One site says, ETA: next week. Another one has the X coming in September!!! I plan on ordering one online, SIM free...However I will not wait too long...I've waited long enough...

I gather from the other threads that you work for Sendo...
I live in the UK and was as excited when the X was announced back in October/December as I am now its nearing release...

As far as I'm concerned nothing touches it for size, weight (have had a 7650 so appreciate that) and functionality... its a "classic" design in that its not gimmicky and will therefore not look stoopid in 2 years time as the 76xx/66xx/any other Nokia fashion phone will. I believe that this is the reason Nokia are losing market share in favour of Sony Ericsson, Samsung etc who are making phones that stay in fashion for more than 10 minutes! The X is the T610 on steroids... and thats why it will probably do so well.

However release of the X has been touted so many times I've almost given up now!! Do you have any idea/way of finding out when it will be released in the UK? Ive been using an Ericsson T28 for 6 mnths now and its driving me potty not having all the functionality I used to have with the 7650 (stolen unfortunately).

I know you cant commit, but if you have any inkling at all, I'd appreciate knowing...

In fact the X is NOT available OUTSIDE Italy! Not in France, Spain or Netherlands. 😡

You have just lost two more customers "Movilstar" in spain and "BelComapny" in Netherlands, since Sendo ist NOT able to deliver more than a handful of phones.

Next thing, the Sendo guruantee does not cover Europe. So if I buy an "italian" X i have to send it to Italy, if there are are any errors.

But it's ok, since you have to LOWER the prices at relase in these countries and the rest of the world if you wan't to sell more than a few phones.

The competitors (SX1 and N600) are MUCH cheaper now (~ 350 EUR), the N7610 is at 479 EUR.

Wait another two months and you'll have to sell the X "prepaid" 😃

I'm not in sales or marketing, so do not know the plan for country releases i'm afraid. All I would suggest is maybe contacting / pre-ordering via a certain UK web ordering site that deals in EXPANding your computer SYStem (!)

I have quite a few UK friends who want them too - what pressure do you think i'm under from them to get one early ??!!

Also looking at this nice "adventure" game, that uses cell locations to work out if you have moved or not - very clever. Works on all S60 handsets (I think). Enjoy !

Yes, these are Sendo themes, not 6600/7610 versions, but at least we have them now, which is great news.

I�m not sure about the ��lost two customers�� that you mention, as I believe that those orders (and a lot of others) are still going on OK.
I know that demand has been high for the Sendo X, so maybe it�s a case of late, rather than lost.

As to servicing, the guarantee certainly DOES cover Europe, so a handset could be fixed in any country that has a Sendo service centre, regardless of where it was purchased.
Should the handset need a software upgrade, the update system is designed to re-load the latest version of that (operator) version that is already on it, so again, should be OK anywhere, being a web-based system.
Indeed you can do this from home yourself, via the USB cable, so a service centre should even not need to be involved (unless you totally killed it somehow!)

Some questions for you:
1) Can you says whats will changes these Sendo themes? Colors and/or wallpapers on "clock bar" (above Now! pannels)? Wallpapers and icons on Men� screen? Are will these Sendo themes released free on first firmware upgrade? Will go out a Sendo Theme Tool to make them?

1b) Wallpapers on panels of Now! seems convert image from 65k colors to 4096... why? 😞

2) Our Sendo X (release of 14 and 17 June) show total RAM 13.8MB... why? Technical specifications told 16MB total of RAM...

3) Can you tell us when Sendo website launch first upgrade firmware for public download?

4) Can we mail to Sendo (or you) for bugs to fix for next firmware upgrade?

5) We hot waiting for GOOD news about movies with audio with SmartMovie or anythings on Mobiclip...

Well, about the guarantee issue, that is nice to hear. I'm fully aware, that the X has a home update feature (files are 30 MB, latest build is 47G dated 30.06.2004).

And yes, the demand for the X is high. It is a GREAT device, there is NO doubt about that. And at the time, the X will be available in bigger quantities, you may show Nokia what a Series60 phone is supposed to be 😃.

You people at Sendo did a great job so far. And as i said before, all the problems are forgiven, the day the X will be shipped in bigger quantities.

About the "Themes" issue, did you include a special API in the developer kit for themes on Sendo X Series 60 1.2s?

As far as I know, Series60skinsupport is included only in Symbian 7.0s Series60 V2.0. So did you wrote your own kind of skinsupport?

I know, that it IS possible to included "full scale" skinning of Symbian 6.1, but you have to go quite deep into the core system to support that.

All the other theme support software (Smartlauncher and Trigenix) are only some sort of GUI, they are no real themes...

Would be great, if you could send me more details as I'm a registered developer.

Sorry for the delay in replying to the questions here, just busy with work (lots of testing going on), and home life (moving house).

Anyway, answers (well, as much as I can give) to Matthia's questions:

1a) Themes
Firstly, I am not sure when this feature will be on the handset. Also, I do not know if they will be free or if any of them will be on the handset as standard.

• Themes will do the colours/background image/top status bar/analogue clock (face) for the Now screen, and generally throughout the phone menu system
• Icons are not included because there are so many types needed in the handset (various sizes, etc). Maybe a future thing ?
• We are looking into a theme generator system.

1b) Wallpaper colours on Now screen
I have seen some colour issues on this too, and it is being looked at. Hopefully some answers soon.

2) RAM on handset
There is 16MB in the handset. Some is reserved for the bootloader and radio code. What is left is available to Symbian code. I am sure other handsets work like this too, but do not show the figures as openly as we do - try finding out the RAM on some other handsets (eg: what the hell is a heapsize anyway ?!)

3) USB Update
I don't know when this will be generally available for use. As soon as I do, the url and info will be here...

4) Bugs / Suggestions

I'm glad that you like the idea, and again thanks for testing the game on the SendoX! The second part which will be an adventure instead of an "adventure" is on its way 😊 Unfortunately it's quite time-consuming and difficult to do development, graphics, web-stuff and "marketing" at the same time...

Well, the SX1 got to be on the main page as I worked for Siemens Mobile for half a year for my internship, and the people there were really nice and I enjoyed it a lot. But from what I've heard and read, the Sendo X is a lot better than my SX1 and I'd buy it now (if I did not already own a rather new SX1).
