Please be advised that the Nokia 7650 released in Singapore does not
support Chinese interface, as mentioned previously the upgrade is not
available currently. However please be assured that we have included you
name in our mailing list and shall notify you on the availability of the
Chinese input software.
Thank you.

Hmmm, I also rec this email from Nokia.... still no news for chinese updates. Sob.
I have been using the 7650 for 2 months now. Just had my unit updraded to the chinese version last week. Just to let you guys know that after upgrading to chinese, you will no longer have english T9 input capability. On the other hand, you can read and input chinese for messaging and contacts.
Old version 3.12. New version 4.12

No more waiting for me.... I sold off my N7650 today. Can't do without chinese and upgrading means no T9.... that is too much pain to let go either one language so give up the hp and wait for P800. :P
Old version 3.12. New version 4.12
Apart from supporting chinese text what are other improvements on version 4.12? does anyone happen to know bout this ? 😉
I notice that the hantro video program allows me to delete video wihout any problem. My other unit(english 3.12) will have a message saying memory low. My guess is that there aren't many units out there with ver 4.12.
Also, on my 3.12 I am allow to sms 160 characters but on the 4.12 only 70 characters. I guess chinese character use double byte.
Then its no point for me to upgrade my 7650 ... 😮ops:

At Malaysia, still don't have Chinese Firmware to upgrade. Think to get 3rd Party to upgrade from English to HK 7650 with Chinese input. What do you all think about it? Thank You.

The reason your sms are so small is because it uses unicode format for chinese.
Some SE t68m/t68i had the same problem with greek language when they used greek t9. The only benefit they got from that was to be able to use lower case characters. On latest firmwares of t68i SE gave an option if you wanted to use the standard or the unicode version of T9.
But on your case I don't know if it will be possible on a future firmware upgrade because I don't know the characteristics of chinese language.
