😞
Hi all
Sorry if this is a total newbie question but i just got my 7650 today and cant connect to WAP. O2 sent me the text message with the details which were saved but when i try to connect it tries to dial over GSM and after a few seconds just disconnects.
I think all the settings are correct as they correspond with the ones on the O2 site but ive no idea what could be wrong
ANy help would be most appreciated
Many thanks
This should work:
Go to Menu>Tools>Settings>Connection>Access Points
Press Options>New Access Point>Use default Settings
The following should be entered for each field:
Connection Name=Whatever you want, mine just says O2
Data bearer=GPRS
Access Point Name=mobile.o2.co.uk
User name=o2wap
Prompt Password=No
Password=password
Authentication=Normal
Gateway IP address: 193.113.200.195
Homepage=http://wap.o2.co.uk
Connection security=off
Session mode=Permanent
A few notes; the access point o2 send you is wap.o2.co.uk but this will only allow you access to wap pages, by using mobile.o2.co.uk you can access web content and pick up your pop3 email via GPRS.
The IP address should be set to 0.0.0.0 if you want to use web access/pop3
Hope this helps. 😊
The details posted above are all correct but won't work on your phone unless you pay for GPRS access. For regular GSM WAP try the following:
Data Bearer: GSM Data
Dial-up: +44712927927
User name: o2wap
Password prompt: No
Password: password
Authentication: normal
Gateway I.P. Address: 193.113.200.195
Homtpage: http://wap.o2.co.uk
Data Call type: ISDN v.110
Maximum Speed: 9600
Conection Security: Off
Session mode: Temporary
These settings work fine on my phone, if you still have problems try changingthe Call type to Analouge.
Let us know how you get on.
The other thing to point out is that you have to fill in the homepage.
(or "homtpage"😉 you cannot just have an access point and a homepage and assume that the 7650 will put two and two together :roll:
cheers for the help guys
turns out those idiots at singlepoint didnt set my account up for data but is sorted now 😊
