buzzing noise...

hi.
i have one problem with my n7650: buzzing in the earpiece for the first 20-30 seconds of a call 😞

is it a defect with the phone?

This happens with most Nokia's, it's not a defect it's just the radiation pouring into your brain. 😃 😃 😃

I get that too, with my 7650, but I wouldn't say that it happens with most Nokia phones. I've never had it before with my 6110 or 6210, or any other Nokia phones I've used in the past.

Though I'd believe J2theIZZO about it frying your brain 😮

I had it with my 8890, 8210 and as long ago as my 5110. But only at certain times. You can get a waveshield for it, but it looks stupid.

hey i have this one too but talk wit some one on nokia he told me thet on the v.3.16 it wount be

I had to explain to the guy what Symbian was, asking about firmware would have overloaded his brain.

It will more than likely come back with 3.16, It depends where they've sent it to. (If it takes 2 weeks i'm thinking Finland)

Some Nokia "service" centres in the UK aren't trained to work on the 7650's yet.

Typical Carphone Warehouse Robots! They only know what they learned in training a couple of years ago! I wonder why they hire these ppl?

😃 When I was looking for firmware upgrades on my 7110 I went into The Link, Carphone Whorehouse, and even tried the Voodoofone shop, this was exactly the reaction I got!!! Idiots looked at me like I'd just sprouted horns!!

Fortunately for me there's a Landalow service centre about 10mins from my house!!

Believe it or not this buzzing is actually interference caused by the LEDs on the phone (or the backlight in the case of the 7650)....

Strange but true!

Not dangerous in the slightest!

Check it out for yourself... in a dark room make a call, as the backlight switches off you will hear the buzzing vanish.

U absolutely right. If the leds from the display turn on the buzzing its sounds.
After 15 sec that the leds switches off the buzzing is gone.At the meantime if u receive an SMS the buzzing sounds again until the leds of the display turn off.I have s.w 3.16 and the fucking buzzing is still there

If it's the LEDs interferring, then it won't matter what version of firmware you have, unless that version disables the LEDs as soon as a call is made.

You are absolutely right.

I think you will find that this is a problem common to most modern nokias...

As the components are packed together more and more densely it will become increasingly difficult to isolate them from each other ensuring "perfect" operation.

However to have the LEDS/Backlight power off instantly once a call is accepted was probably rejected due to some focus group trading off some obscure useability against practicality.

Live with it... Thats what I say....

You could always not speak for the first 10 secs of a call 😊

BUT... I dont have this problem with my 7650 at all. I did have it on my 9110, but that had truck loads of problems. When you used a WAV as a irngtone the speaker didnt turn off until about 5 seconds into the call, and it wasnt shielded so you got an ear drum busting static/interference sound when answering any call. The backlight was really loud, as in REALLY loud. It would wake up my girlfriend if I attempted anything that ivnolved opening the main screen at night.

Anyway, back to the issue in hand, why doesnt my 7650 buzz?

I got a replacement 7650 the other day ad the buzzing in the earpiece is all gone.

But even on the old one it only seemed to happen on occasions so I dont know.

I had 2 7650 in my hands and i notice that there is a difference in the coloration of the screen. The first 7650s screen was a little yellow. Why i am saying that?Because i notice that the 7650 with the yellow coloration doesnt buzzing..U can only see the difference of the screen only if u have 2 7650 side by side!!!
So if your 7650 doesnt buzzing is the one with the yellow coloration

Is there not an app out there which you can use to switch off the backlight by the press of a button? This will be very handy: make a call and switch off the light. Then you know it won't buzz. As soon as the call is finished, the backlight could resume its normal operation. If not, maybe someone can develope it for us!!!??

Cheers

I've had plenty of nokia phones and NONE has ever made such noise.I think there's a problem with your phone but I can't tell if it's hardware or software. Is still in warranty??

No, but it happeded to both 0f the 7650's that I tried and if you read this whole post you will see that I am not the only one that experienced the problem. While the backlight is on in a call, it will make that irritating sound in the earpiece!! That's why I'm looking for a app to kill the backlight until you choose to use it again! I don't know programming that well, but this should be easy to do. Any takers??

I agree with deathmonger. My 7650 doesn't do that, if it did it would be going back... since it's not a feature of the phone (!), and plenty of this model don't do it, you can quite safely complain to your NSC and demand a repair/replacement.
