Today I discovered the very cool Opera browser and I installed it on my phone (the free trial version). I also have their mobile accelerator which is supposed to speed up the surfing by deciding which images and content to download.
I played with it for about a half hour. During this time the phone crashed five times, the bottom of the phone became quite warm, and I went through a LOT of battery, more than a third but not quite a half.
I was browsing cnn.com, ebay.com, and yahoo.com which all have a lot of content to download. Has anyone else had this experience with Opera? Is it worth sending in a bug report to the Opera website, or is the culprit the SX-1? From my point of view as a programmer/IT professional, it looks as if the SX-1 is running out of memory and crashing because of it.
I had no other applications running on the SX-1 while I was using Opera.
I have not noticed any problems with opera on my SX1, I use it almost daily checking my bank and ebay.

Try to upgrade the firmware and see the results (if you don't have the latest.) Now if you want to check if the Memory is really the problem install Symbianware's Appman, and let it running to the background. After viewing some websites with Opera just jump to the Appman aplication and see how much free ram you have...
A bit of a side issue... I installed Opera on my SX1, but it would never connect to any websites. The built-in browser connects fine. Any help? 😞
Thanks
Richard
Have you defined a GPRS Internet Access Point (IAP) with your operator's settings and configured Operat to use it (and does your operator/subscription allow full Internet access)?
The WAP Access Point used by the built-in browser is not enough for Opera.

Ah, that could be it... I'll give it a go, thanks.
