Phew!

Well, in the words of Hannibal from The A-Team "I love it when a plan comes together"

And I am so glad I am able to quote that, rather than having to use a "Doh!" of Homer Simpson 😃

jac57 wrote:plinkykev i know silly question i see in your pic that you have a keyboard is it worth having one

It think i didn't had to pay for it hehehe

downloading firmware. speed could be faster though: 12 kb/s :con?

anyway, glad the first update is there. Let's hope many will follow, fixing all the problems we had before ! 😊

Got the update and have installed it on my phone.

How long should the restart take as it does seem to be taking a while

It is said in the instruction, if the screen is black, then pop out the battery, put it on and then turn on the phone.
That was what i've done and worked. 😊

i mean blank not black 🙄

You think? I prefer the Sendo theme to the Curves theme...

Curves was used in a lot of the early screenshots and reviews of the phone.

The first thing i did was put the sendo theme back. 😉

Well i'll be one week off.
Best regards to all members of this forum (plinkykev keep the good work), see you all on next friday 😊

plinkykev wrote:As per my message earlier in the thread:

Use the memory card backup option instead. It's much quicker, and has the added advantage of being with you all the time, should something bad happen when you're away from your PC.

Not sure why the PC Connect is crashing though. May need a power on/off of the phone. Also, any new apps installed, that are keeping files open on the phone?

Yes, I read your message, but ( ), i did not understand what you are meaning with the option memory card backup :con? (could be, because of my english, sorry :frown: my teachers always were sad with it).

I'm alsos believe, that the reason for the written error (during the backup) was a running process. And suddenly something occurred to me: It was the hidden runnig FullScreenCaller. I switched him off. But also a error cames. So I was locking with the "switcher" (freeware) - and, yes: I found a further app running in the backround: Autolock!

Tomorrow, when I'm fresh and awake I will try it again (and then upgrade).

Now I take my Sendo and click on MP3 to hear some wonderfull music...

plinky,

could you make a little list of the extra additions/fixes to this new firmware? 😊
i saw some things in profile, but i'd like to know more 😊

Released 17th September 2004
Version 1.56.2.2 Build 50C

Improvements in X.1.56.2.2 include:
Improvements in boot process
Improvements for stability
Updated Camcorder
Better audio quality for the microphone
GSM improvements
Adjustment of camera flash timing
Improvements to user interface - new / updated graphics and animations
Dutch language fixes for some programs
Preliminary Support for Sendo Themes

however, for more detail, plinkykev is your man.

Dont really think you can call them improvements, nor on my phone anyway

Improvements in X.1.56.2.2 include:

Improvements in boot process
Dont notice any difference

Improvements for stability
My phone has frozen twice since the update and the backlight refuses to come on sometimes (3 times so far)

Updated Camcorder
Dont notice any difference

Better audio quality for the microphone
Dont notice any difference

GSM improvements
I have noticed a good improvement in this

Adjustment of camera flash timing
Not tried this yet

Improvements to user interface - new / updated graphics and animations
Not noticed anything except a few additions to the menus still very slow sometimes switching between menus and options

Dutch language fixes for some programs
N/A to me

Preliminary Support for Sendo Themes
This is not important to me so not tried it yet

So on the whole as far as I am concerned even though work has been done on the firmware, it doesn't address one of the main problems of the phone instability (maybe I have just got a duff phone)

I have had to turn the phone off and on twice today also to receive text messages I know were sent but didn't arrive when they should have

It would be interesting to see what other improvements have been made.

Cheers

Is it possible to downgrade the firmware back to X1.30.16.1 if I don't like the results of the upgrade?

I would like the phone GUI to respond a bit more quickly but I don't seem to have as many problems (or I don't care about the same things) as everyone else.

according post #49 :

Errors still coming. I am not able to backup :frown:

Backup works only one time, in the office, about one week ago.

:con? Plinkykev, what to you mean with "memory card backup option". There is any option like that - or where do I find it?

I also tried (without backup, doesn't matter) to upgrade the firmware. I was installing the driver for the update modus. But the update software always prompt, that it found no device.

I did a firmware update few weeks ago for my SX1 - without any problem. 😎

So, now I've enough for the moment. I spended a lot of time and I was switching my phone off/on a dozen times, sometimes even it was necessary to put off the accu.

I hope there is coming an new update, very soon. Because reading in the forum a lot of solutions are missing...

Also an update for the v0.9 PC connect SW which works a little bit better. :icon14:

Hi xerxes

There is a factory reset, but I just tried it because my phone was working better before the firmware update, but the reset retains the new firmware

Dont know if there is another way

Maybe I'll skip this update. I really don't have that many problems with the current firmware.

proandi wrote:Plinkykev, what to you mean with "memory card backup option". There is any option like that - or where do I find it?

If you have a memory card inserted (unlocked, if an SD card), do this:

Menu / Extras / Memory Card / Options

This will show: "Backup Phone Memory" and "Restore from card" options.

I always use this method. PC Connect works fine too, but I just find it so much easier to have the backup with me all of the time, so I don't have to wait to get back to a PC.

Also, another handy tip: do the backup before installing any new programs. That way, if they mess up, you can get back OK.

It would be possible, but there is no plan to do this.

The GSM improvements should be a good reason to do it, as well as other general fixes and improvements.

If you are going OK, then that's fine. You can always wait for the next one. There is no need to do this first in order to get the next one.

Hi Plinkykev,

I agree that the gsm update is a good reason to upgrade, My reception has improved considerably, but I now have major problems with my phone freezing up, keys not working and the backlight not coming on all the time,

I had these problems before but they now seem to have increased in frequency

and it also seems that I have delays in receiving my messages, they only seem to come through when I turn the phone off and on again (usually after a freeze up or a problem), although they also come through at other times aswell.

I have listed all the problems I am having in another thread, I hope you will take a look as others have listed problems there aswell.

Thanks

The obvious one that bugged me from the beginning was not resolved.

Changes to the number for listening to voicemail are reverted to the one set in the beginning when you leave the voice mail app

Ludicrous
