From what I've heard, it's a totally different format, so no.
I must admit, all the games I've seen for the DS so far just use the second touchscreen as some kind of map, or fixed data screen. Bit of a waste really. What it really needs is for Shigeru to come up with some fantastic game that fully utilises the second screen properly. Until then, it's just an un-utilised novelty.
As for the PSP, the specs and games demo's all look impressive, but I'll be waiting to see what the battery life is like first! Though sony have, rightly, argued that most handheld games devices are used mainly at home. However, they seem to use that as an argument for it having poor battery life. Whereas I believe that, although your average GBA might spend most of it's time at home, it doesn't spend that time hooked up to the mains, so battery life IS still important.
It'll also be interesting to see what sony does with the PSP. They seem to be suggesting it is to become the basis of some portable entertainment unit, which kind of suggests they have lots of plans for add-ons, amybe a wifi adaptor, radio, tv etc. Should be good!
bassey i agree with you about the second screen being used only for maps and stuff like that but it also means that there is less things on the main screen
ex:mario kart there is a map and other icons so i would prefer the screen to be clear😃

On the other side PSP although it has very strong hardware gives me the idea that it won't give what we expect...
Why?
-Unknown Price of the device (I expect to be more than 300$).
-Unknown life of battery (also having in mind the use of an optical device make things worse).
-Hardware similarities with PS2 gives huge propabilities to have mainly ports from PS2 and very few original games...
-The extra features are questionable (playing movies requires you to buy them in the special media format the PSP has, and music playback is also questionable...)
Actually it will have 2 game slots one for DS and one for GBA games.
You can find a forum dedicated to such gaming debates at
Hi I Like The Ds Its A Great Device Its Price Will Be $150 Not $300
theres not much i can release to you on nitendo ds but it does play gba games and the graphics will be like gamecube. if i don't stop there i'll get fired.
y isnt nitendo ds available in the us markey now?
wasnt it released on 21/11/2004 which was yesterday?
:icon4: here is a sentence i got off a nitendo site :icon4:
"The Nintendo DS also features a separate media port for older Game Boy Advance cartidges. It also allows you to play all of your favorite Game Boy Adance games. The Nitendo DS includes a wrist strap that attaches to the system so you don't drop and break it."
PSP Battery life is very good, you don't need UMD to play movies, you can play them off the memory stick 😉
I love nitnendo and it will go online which i mean you can play any one through out the worl unlike PSP and PSP has low life battery and nitnenod has 10-12 hours of life and it is cool because it is wireless
can we browse the internet with these devices using wifi? that would be awesome! a great deal for the PSP is up on my blog by amazon..
Totally the PSP. Although the DS has two screens, its kinda hard to concentrate o*n both of them at the same time. + the PSP has WAY better graphics, better games (unless you are dying for the mario series), and has movies and music fetures. Sure the DS is cheaper, but there are mobile media players that cost the same as the PSP, and the psp can play games and has an internet connection.

There is a way, check here;

In case any of your ever drift over to PalmInfoCenter (I also own a Palm PDA, lovely little thing called a Tapwave Zodiac, whips the DS into small pieces, but moving along), for the past few weeks, myself and another member have been going mad pulling down every single PSP related link we can find, and man, did we find some gems....
Just as a sample:- Info on a phone plug-in for PSP, links to PSP updates containing web browsers and a word processor! But the biggest find was a full blown GPS system BEING DEVELOPED BY SONY THEMSELVES!

What good would a word processor be? There is no real quick way of text input. GPS navigation would be perfect though.
Logic 7 already has a keyboard for it - 19.99. Check the blog, I'm sure I put a piccie of it up somewhere. It's about the same size as the PSP screen, clicks on to the bottom and folds over the screen when not being used.
