Dead 9210i

Hiya Everyone,
I have a Nokia 9210i. Yesterday it was working fine, today, when I came to use it the phone part would not switch on :'( I tried openning it and entering the lock code but as I pressed ok the phone froze. I removed the battery, waited 20 secs then replaced it but nothing. Screen was dead and the phone wouldnt switch on at all. The phone doesnt show its charging either although using a voltmeter I can see the phone is recieveing power and there is power going to the battery to charge it. I havent spilt anything on the phone, infact i take better care of the thing than myself!! No drops or hard shocks either. Just has stopped working.

Tried my local Nokia service centre, wont deal with it because its not a phone they handle. Rang the Club Nokia careline who put me onto a service centre in Huntingdon (UK) who have told me I need to send the phone to them. The phone is out of warranty by 6 months (its a 1 year warranty AFAIK) so im guessing its going to be expensive.

Basically what I have come here to ask is has anything the same happened to anyone else?? If so what happened in the end??

If I send it to be repaired are they going to loose all my contacts and data?? What type of price are we roughly talking as well?? I hope someone out there has some ideas or maybe something to try before sending it...

Thanks or any replies...

I had the same problem once with my 9210i. Whatever I did, it wouldn't switch on, screen remained blank, etc. I hope yours is the same problem as mine, because it was easily fixed:

I removed the battery, then used my fingers to push the pins that connect to the battery in and out a couple of times. After that the commy started again. Don't know what was wrong, but it hasn't happened ever again since then (more than a year ago).

Hiya Arjen, thanks for your reply, I tried what you suggested but still no luck 😞 It was sad sight seeing my poor communicator looking lifeless 😞 Anyway, today I took in to Communicaid in Huntingdon (UK) where they were extremely helpful. They are going to have a look at it and get back to me within 5 working days to quote me a price for fixing it. Its horrible having to go back to my 9110i I must admit so I hope that things will be sorted out quickly.
