As I already told u on Howard forums....
:icon1:
No doubt about that.. 🙄
Nothing more to said 😃
cheers 😎
Some more to be said, I'm afraid: Things are, unfortunately, a bit more complicated than that; http://www.mmca.org/press/NewBranding.pdf
The "MMCmobile" branding of RS-MMC cards seems to support two operational voltage ranges: 1.65-1.95V and 2.7-3.6V.
As far as I know. for the 6630 you will need this type of RS-MMC (namely, it must handle the lower voltage range). In other words, RS-MMC cards that only support 2.7-3.6V will not work on the 6630. So, when you look for an RS-MMC, ask for "MMCmobile" versions (if the seller doesn't know anything about dual voltage stuff).
Hmmm... Thanks for the information N/A.... But i don't understand one point; if both 7610 and 6630 supports 1.8/3v RS-MMCs.. Why i need another type of RS-MMC for 6630? I just paid 85$ for my 2.7-3.6v ATP 512mb RS-MMC and i don't want to pay another 85$ 😞(
The 7610 RSMMC will surely work on 6630 u need not have to buy another.
any good online store (that ships to Italy 😉) that has good prices? 😉
Some RS-MMC cards may only be of the single-voltage 3.3V kind (without the 1.8V range at all). The 6630 reader works only with 1.8V (the MMCmobile dual-voltage kind of RS-MMC).
How can we know that it is dual voltage RSMMC
i read the box of the my existing MMc its Microsim 512
and there is not anything mention abt te voltage etc.
It probably is, if its package uses the "MMCmobile" name/label.
If it doesn't, it still can be. Then the ways to find out are:
1: Ask the manufacturer
2: Try it in a 6630 and see if it works or not 😉

I work for Nokia with Nokia 6630, and can tell you 100% sure thtat if your RSMMC card only support the 3v stuff and not 1,8V. It won't work in 6630.
However I'm myself looking for a 512MB DV RS-MMC. Do anyone know were I can get it?
Cheers
T
So which 512mb RS MMC brands work 100% on the 6630???Please whoever knows tell us,because the ATP 512mb rs mmc DOES NOT WORK on the 6630 ,my friend got it today and his 6630 cant detect the ATP 512mb rs mmc card!!!He is pissed

We can use DV RS-MMC or MMCmobile type RS MMC cards with 6630.. Samsung,ATP,Kingmax ... announced their MMCmobile type RS-MMC cards but i think we cannot find them at least 1 or 2 months.. We have to use 64 mb Nokia's original DV RS-MMCs.
The nokia 6630 works with this http://flash.atpinc.com/company/news.php this is it,throw your normal rs mmc in the garbage
That is correct. The Dual voltage Reduces siza MMC cards were just recently released, and as of date there are no DV RS MMCards for retail.
Perhaps in a few weeks we will see 32/64 MB, and in the beginning of 2005 we'll see 256-512MB
Just as a basic summary for everyone.
The 6630 uses DV-RSMMC. It uses less power than a normal memory card and that is why they've moved to it.
There ARE 256mb's in production and they wont be released for a while.
The only DV-RSMMC youcan buy is from Nokia itself, but the highest they have is 64mb.
I hope this helps.
Since it is a system compatibility and not a hardware one, i'm sure a program will be released soon that will enable functionality.
(before someone argues the fact that it's a system issue, please read up on P900 Pro Duo compatibility)
Even, I have 256 MB RS-MMC card, which I had bought for my previous nokia 7610...unfortunately it doesn't work at all with my new 6630..I am really disappointed by nokia's useless upgradations, which costs us lot of money...
It's important to point out, Nokia are just the first to market with a new standard. SOon most phones will use a similar setup. Its only a problem becasue third party companies haven't yet produced higher capacity cards. Give it time. Samsung have some releasing in March, up to 512MB.

March!!! you are kidding, right? So you think it's OK to release a phone that takes flash memory that won't be available in reasonable capacities until 5 months after it's launch? Would you buy a stereo where you couldn't get media for up to 5 months after you bought it? Would you buy a car that ran on a new kind of petrol that wasn't available for 4-5 months?
I would guess that most people here are in favour of progress, but I also think we are all getting sick of the proliferation of flash memory formats. Since there was no physical difference between 1.8v and 3.0v could Nokia not have fitted a reader that could handle both 1.8v and 3.0v cards? Failing that they should have fitted a 3.0v reader and introduced the 1.8v reader when they knew there would be a reasonable supply of media in the marketplace. You fit a camera which takes photos that are 3 or 4 times larger and then limit the users to memory that is 3 or 4 times SMALLER!! Even a 512Mb card is half the size of the 1Gb RS-MMC cards available in 3.0v format now...
All this does is make people wary of buying Nokia phones in future, they end up scouring the small print of the specs for the next incompatible 'advancement'.
I've Bought A 128 MB Sandisk RS-MMC But it doesn't Work with my Phone I Tried With A Noki 7610 and it Works : Can I Use It On My 6630?

Eyes are bloody fantastic thing to have and use. Try it, it's brilliant! 😉
i Asked u if it's possible in anyways to use The Memory card with my phone because it says that there isn't any memory card in it
Simple answer: No you can't. The Nokia 6630 requires Dual Voltage RS-MMC cards. The one you are trying to use is not Dual Voltage (DV).
Argh!
I just bought it.........
Can you not return it? Explain to the retailer that you didn't realise the 6630 required Dual Voltage RS-MMC cards...
does the DV RS MMC work with the 7610?
