Well supposedly im getting an E-Mail when its finished, but im not expecting one soon. Surely it cant take that long to test
Uk Vodafone Sendo X
I wanted to upgrade my current phone on vodaphone to a sendo x and went to my local vodafone shop this afternoon and while they had one on display they said it was discontinued and there would be no further stock.
I tried to confirm that by calling vodafone and the person I spoke to could only find it partly listed on their system, I then spent an age on hold while they tried to find out more, ended up asking them to call me back when they had an answer which they not done yet.
Given that I'm low value customer the cost of upgrade is not much short of the expansys price, and looking at the posts in here I think I'd be better off with one that vodafone haven't got to and that the stock firmware can be used on.
Well it is true that Vodafone have stoped selling the SendoX due to not being very popular!
For those of use who are waiting for an upgrade there is hope. Even though there is no voda firmware available at this time they can still upgrade it with a "non spacific" firmware. just take it into your nearest vodafone shop and they will get it sent away for upgrading. I have not done this yet because i need to back up my contacts all because the sendo wont let you transfer them to the sim!!! so make sure you do the same. If you have problems ask them to get intouch with the Newcaslte Voda Branch as i was quoted there that the X can be upgraded
Hope this is usefull info to us all!!!
Well ive never seen it in a shop anyway, so i dont really care about that.
a "Non Specific" Firmware? Surely that would do more harm than good, if it even does anything? I would rather use the official release when we finally get it.

It is the official release firmware, just mean it can go onto any version phone.
I cant remember the name of the company but they do upgrades for every type of phone and they do upgrades for all the leading phone shops. i just wish i had been told this info from day one, but no it takes weeks and weeks to find one man in a voda shop who knows what he is talking about!!!!!!
He means generic ie non VF
Didnt stuclark try a non vodafone firmware awhile back, and after doing so was unable to install software?
Or are you referring to a non-branded version?
I've never tried a generic firmware on a Voda branded handset, all my handsets are SIM free versions.
Also, my problem with not being able to install apps was actually down to a dodgy SD card reader on that particular handset, not due to the firmware.
I can confirm that some of the French and Portugese firmwares are fully generic and will install on any (ok, maybe not Voda) handsets. The UK Expansys firmware does seem to be locked to Expansys handsets though 😞
p.s. I too have noticed that the X has disappeared from my local Voda store, I'll ask them at the weekend for an official statement about availability and firmware upgrades.
Whats so special about the Voda handset that doesnt allow the other firmwares to be installed on it?
It's one of the "standard" Sendo configuration things - they lock the handsets so they'll only accept firmwares which have been approved by the network the phone was originally sold on. The networks love this, as it means they can ensure their branding doesn't get removed from the phone.
Damn. Looks like ill just have to wait awhile then. I have no idea whats been keeping them, and i dont think they do either.

But what im saying is you dont have to wait at all.
if u take it to a voda store you will be getting the phone updated and it probably will come back without it being branded vodafone! just cos it doesnt say voda all over it doesnt mean its not official. there installing it, so if anything does happen its vodas fault and they WILL give me a new phone!!!!
i really dont think voda are to bothered about an official voda release now that there not selling it.
there that desperate about me not getting a totally different phone they even told me to ask at my nearest store to get the number for the people who do the ugrades for them, to get it done myself, now how shocking is that for customer service!!!!!
by the time i got to a store, it was like, ohhh nooo we cant give u that number, where not aloud to talk to them ourselves!!!!!
Soooo, i kicked off good style in the shop cos im well fed up with being pushed from pillar to post with this fking Sendo X
and caaaaaaaaalm 😊
I may check tomorrow down my local store, but i can almost guarentee they wont have a clue what im talking about and ill be arguing with yet another Vodafone worker

was already posted on here somewhere - but you can unlock the phone from Vodafone for 20 - your right the people in the store I went to though I was silly for suggesting they have an official outlet on ebay - monkeys!.
BTW my sim was missing - but I complained and should get 10 back.
I bought a Sendo X with Vodafone thro Ebay paid 75 it said Bluetooth Headset was included and 32Mb sd card, it did not... but after some discusion i manage to get 40 from them, i emailed them and they send me the sim card too.
I want to Up grade my phone but i cant get the right download (in sendo's website there is only the Expansys one not the vodafone one?) any clues about it?

We have to wait for a Vodafone one to appear on that list on the sendo site, thats the only one that can work with our phones. Apparently they have to approve releases of software before they are publically available. From other posts on this forum it seems this process is underway, and should be finishing soon.

PS thanks for your post - it reminded me to email them about my missing SIM, and I checked the listing and discovered I was missing :

ok a bit of a lie about the buisness, but if i said i was a poor student they would have told me to Fcuk off...
Vodafone ebay shop have just emailed me, offering 17 refund, saying
Due to a listing error within our marketing team, this item has been launched to eBay with an incorrect product listing.
This item does not come with a Bluetooth headset, additional battery or the SD Card (32MB).
They offered to collect the phone, and do a full refund, but I had to decline, 'cause I like it, and also I don't want the hassle (I need the phone 😃 ).
They said they will post the SIM
I'll keep you posted 😎
say that when you bid, you are signing a contract and in the contract says that you get the phone plus all the other stuff.. if u insist u will get ur money back..
They said the will send me the SIM in 48 but the didnt so i emailed them a bit crossed and the send it NEXT DAY DELIVERY!

They quickly offered a full refund, and a pickup at no cost to me. But I told them that was no good, as I need the phone, and we have reached a much better settlement.
I don't want to post details of it yet on here, as its not finalised, buy I will update later....
Under eBay terms and conditions for their "significantly different than described" process the seller is required to offer either :
1) a full refund
or
2) compensation
My advice to anyone in a similar situation is to push them 😊
