Sendo X - OFFICIAL THEMES !!!

21 replies · 5,761 views · Started 15 December 2004

Hi Guys,

I see you are all busy doing your own themes, but I am now happy to announce that the OFFICIAL Sendo themes are now available off the download site, here:

http://www.sendo.com/smartphones/downloads.asp

They are on a new page, from the "additional software" link.

Also in there is a neat "rolling demo" to show the X off to your mates 😊

IMPORTANT NOTE
If you want to UNINSTALL a theme for whatever reason, please make sure you switch to an in-built theme (Spiro / Curves) FIRST, then do the uninstall.

Great! 😊

Im starting to playing with them just now 😊)

cheers!

Changing the colour of the battery/signal etc icons is a nice touch 😊

Plinkykev, is there any news yet concerning a (free) theme editor for the X ? The themes on the Sendo-site look nice though!Kudos!

Very nice indeed!

On the questionair, Sendo is asking you if you would like to have a theme editor and how much we are willing to pay for each theme. Does this mean that they still have to build one; do we have to pay for themes and will we be able to use Nokia themes?

We cannot use Nokia themes. That would require the newer version of S60.

How did I know that question was coming up!

Well, the Theme Studio (editor) PC program is still not ideal for general consumer use. We want a few more things sorting out before releasing it, even to "experienced" users, like you guys.

Also, the Theme Studio program has now developed past the current theme setup. What I mean by that, is the themes it outputs (as SIS files) are not compatible with the firmware you currently have, only the next firmware. This is due to some extensions to the theme files, giving us even greater flexibility.

So at the time of the next firmware release, the themes on the website need to be updated, and (hopefully) a BETA version of the Theme Studio will also be released. This is NOT confirmed, and still needs approval, but we are pushing for it to happen, as we have done with the release of themes.

We are using it in-house, and have done some nice themes as part of the testing. These will not be available on the Sendo website (due to possible copyright reasons), but I am hoping to be able to put some on my own site soon. That will be later this week.

So i did it WITHOUT the editor 😃

One theme for my new toy:

(with Enginesound as Startuptone)

Edit: Theme removed

You can easily theme your X up to the max, like the N6600. Very good work Sendo!

At the moment I'm not able to change the startup animation, due to some XIP problems. The same for the Menueicons, they are (at the moment) only XIP available.

Expect the unexpected ... 😃

I have a feeling that the Theme Editor is able to import Nokia themes, then convert them to the correct formats for the X 😊

Taking each point in turn:

a) "Do you want a Theme Editor?" - just to see how many users are actually interested in the idea. If no-one is, then it will only be available for networks and approved theme development companies.
b) "How much?" - we have released some free themes, but more will come, and maybe not for free. How much would you pay to have some new ones?
c) "Still have to build one?" - no, a theme editor is written. see my other post.
d) "HAVE to pay for themes?" - well, maybe, in the future. free now though!
e) "Nokia Themes?" - these do not load onto a Sendo X, as our theme implemetation is different (better!). The theme studio program does however have an import option of the theme source file (.tpf extension), so theme developers and users who have made their own Nokia themes can import them, update them a bit, then export them as Sendo X themes.

Thanks for the fast reply, Kev.

Do I understand correctly that those copyrighted test-themes are usable for this firmware?

P.S. Nice work again dragon-tmd!

DragonReborn wrote:Do I understand correctly that those test-themes are usable for this firmware?

We have some themes we generated before the theme editor changed, so yes, they could be used on the current firmware you have, and will show you even more of what the X is capable of...

From one Porsche fan to another, thanks dragon-tmd you are a star!

All of you guys are amazing! such enthusiasm!

Kev, is it possible , in the "propable" theme editor, to change the default color and the font color? if yes, I want one!!! 😉

It's nothing commercial... I meant an area on my (very out of date) homepages with Demon. I just store all of my Sendo X images and files there for forum posting, so will just post a link to the file(s)

From what I know of it (and I may be wrong, I'm not sure I've seen this particular demo), it uses a LOT of memory, so if you've got loads of applications open, it may not be able to find enough memory to start itself up correctly.

Yes, that is true, it is large. It's really designed for in-store use, on a new handset, so you might struggle if more things are open / installed. It is good though, and runs for quite a while. Maybe try again after a power off/on?

In use, these keys work: left/right for volume, and right soft-key to exit

...it does sound like the one I've seen before then - nice sound track 😊
