Good day all,
I'm actually deciding to buy the panasonic X700 but em wondering if anyone here can kindly ans some of my doubts in regards to X700 before i made my purchase? 😉
1) I understand that the X700 is using Symbian OS v7.0 so does that mean i can install and use symbian software/games that nokia 6600 uses ?
2) Is X700 capable of playing mp3s ? I heard from some fourms that via a third party software, the X700 is acutally able to play mp3 files though the quality is not that good.
3) Lastly any software/games that you all would recommend (preferably freeware 😉 ) to be install in X700 ?
Cheers!
Thanks in advance !
Merry Christmas to all too !!
😊

1.Yes,you can use most of the software made for 6600...
2.no.... third party software is not solving the problem... if oy saw my post about the review, that you know, that that ULTRAmp3 is useless too... than its not possible to listen mp3 files
3.try to look at some other sites about applications...
i can suggest you not to buy this phone.... because i think, that you are not an expierenced user of smartphones, and this is not the correct choice of you firts smartphone of your life...
and what is really important, this device is very slow, with Sendo X is one of the slowest Series 60 devices... 😃
Thanks Fidelko !
U sure clear all my doubts in regards to this phone 😉
You are right ..I'm quite new to these symbian phones actually so thats why I have this intention to buy the X700 to try and myself familize with the cool functions that the symbian os provides.
After seeing your valuable advice, i think i ought to get down to one of those telco shops to try out this phone myself first.
Oh if its not much of a trouble .. would you (apart fomr this wonderful fourm) mind introducing me a couple of sites that holds and does review on symbian apps
Once again.. thanks !!
😃

I currently have the 3rd party software called "Mp3Player" running on the X700 and it plays MP3s without problems. So far the phone hasn't crashed on me or frozen up when I'm using the player.
The X700 is my first Symbian phone and I'm enjoying it. I've tried out different themes, installed Repligo (which allows you to view all sorts of docs in their original form), installed Handy Safe (password software) and they work well. Most importantly, I really like the size of the phone. Unfortunately, its compact size also means that most people do not realise that it's a full fledged Symbian smartphone and think it's just another Samsung with a limited proprietory OS ... oh well, you can't win it all ... 😊

Quite, unfortunate, as it is a Panasonic, and not a Samsung. 😉
ah kenkaw, so the X700 does play mp3s ?
But i believe the play back isnt that superb as other mp3phones right ?
Err just like to ask also .. is the photo capture of X700 good ?
I understand that its still a VGA cam so ..
Anyone one might posting pics taken with X700 ?
Thank you soo much!

Here are some pictures that I took with the phone:

I just got mine a few days ago and overall I am very satisfied. Even performance-wise I am quite pleased. Although sometimes basic apps like your contacts take too long to start if you forgot to leave the app running 😉
Also the battery time is total crap if you are using bluetooth (i hope this might be fixed with a patch... although maybe I am hoping too much).
Otherwise an overall nice phone with no more and no less features then any other Series 60 phone that is out on the market today. I also like the small size and the nice design of the phone. Generally smartphones tend to be large and clunky, but the X700 is quite tiny if compared to a nokia 6600 or a P900.
Oh, and it has a nice LED flashlight too... Very useful when trying to plug in cables in dark areas! 😉

I'm no audiophile but on the teeny weeny external speaker of the X700, MP3s sound similar to what I got from my previous N6230. The size and limitations of these small speakers probably negate any differences there are in MP3 playback quality.
What I have noticed however is that if you convert the MP3s to wav files (done automatically by the PC Suite software when you drag and drop sound files to your phone), the sound quality is noticeably worse than if you play the files as MP3s.
I don't have Panasonic earphones so I can't tell the quality of MP3 playback via earphones.
Thanks zeraien ! The pics look great for a VGA phone 😊
Thanks kenkaw for clearing my doubts on the mp3 playback 😊
Btw does the X700 has the ablity to listen to radio/FM ? Is there any software for it ?
Thanks in advance!
Cheers!
After a review I've read at the greek myphone.gr site I started liking the phone very much.
The phone is much faster than 6600. It is also the smaller Series60 phone and the materials it is made of are very good . The photos taken with it are very good for a VGA camera phone (the built in flash helps alot). The only bad things are that it has no MP3 built in (don't know about stereo yet) or FM radio. And also it is a clamshell phone.
Maybe I'll change my mind about clamshelll phones.Either way it is a Panasonic (smart)phone and like all Panasonic's phones it's quality is very high...

You will not be able to get radio capability on the X700 by adding software. You need hardware components which the X700 does not have. The only way out is if Panasonic (or some other third party) someday releases a radio add-on piece for the X700.
Thanks kenkaw once again for your feedback 😉
I think i had seen quite a lot of gd and favourable reviews plus feedback for this stylish smartphone ...
Hence I've decided to join the panasonic family come next week 😃
btw just a side qn kenkaw .. u surf HWZ do you ?
I seen a similar nick there in the mobilehone section .. but i might be wrong though lol ..

I actually enjoy the clamshell aspect very much. It is especially good on a series 60 phone. Allow me to elaborate.
I like to read ebooks, for which this phone does very nicely with it's large memory and miniSD slot.
So as I am reading the book, for example, on the bus, if I have to get off the bus, all I need to do is close the phone, and put it in my pocket. When I am ready to read again, I take the phone out, open it, and voila, my book is still there. No need to lock keys or other fussy things.
Same with for example agile messenger or any other program which you might want to keep running in the foreground but also keep your phone in your pocket.
The only disapointment so far has been my battery, but I am hoping it is a defect that can be fixed. If you use bluetooth or camera, battery dies rather fast.

I am interested in Panasonic's new X700 phone. I never have any experience with Symbian-platform phones. I like the fact that the phone allows me to use MS Office documents on mobile is making it really attractive.
Any negative things about the phone I should know of?
Hi all,
I've finally bought my X700 😉
I'm quite please with the phone and had no regrets buying it
But i have one qn ^^;
May i know how to install an application into my phone ?
I tried the following steps but I'm still unable to my app up and running
I tried to install FExplorer.sis (I copied this file into my miniSD card under the 'other' folder)
Next i went to the X700 file manger, access my miniSD card and copied the file over to the local phone memory (save it in a folder called ' menu'😉.
Then i went to FExplorer.sis file in the X700 select 'open' under options.. i did saw it been installed but i cant seem to find it any where in my phone..
Pls kindly advise as this is my first symbian phone ^^
Thanks in advance!
Pls ignore my previous post on how to install symbian apps .. silly me lol
manage to install em after some fiddling ard lol
Btw can any one recommend me a series 60 organizer app ?
Thanks !
