CellTrack - am I a software pirate? — OPL Questions

Dear all

I have a small problem with my conscience. About a year ago I registered CellTrack Pro (a small application that allows you to set a different profile based on the location you're at - it uses the ID from the network).

But, I accidently deleted the email with the registration code and after a reinstallation of my Communicator CellTrack doesn't work anymore. I tried contacting the author (a lot of times) and also contacted Handango, but I get no replies from either one of them (I'm especially disappointed by the lack of response from Handango who promise to get back to you within 48 hours).

So, based on the CellTrack opx in the OPL package, I created my own basic CellTrack program that essentially does the same thing as CellTrack.

I also think others might benefit from this program and want to make it available as public domain (including the source code so people can see how to use this OPX). But since it almost duplicates the functionality of CellTrack Pro, this program will not get a lof of sales anymore. Now I'm wondering if I'm pirating the ideas of the CellTrack Pro creator?

Additional thoughts:
1. I wouldn't have created this program if I had received an answer from the creator of CellTrack or from Handango.
2. The creator of CellTrack Pro made his OPX with interface publically available by allowing it to be included in the OPL developers package.

So, what should I do? Keep this program to myself only or share it?

If the licenc of CellTrack.opx allows you to create and distribute your own package, then (IMO) any program you write using CellTrack.opx is going to be legal as long as the OPL Source Code is all your own work.

Ewan, thanks for confirming.

CellTrack.opx is part of the opl developer package which is distributed under the lgpl (GNU lesser general public license),which essentially means that it's free to use and distribute. There is no separate license file for CellTrack.opx (at least none that I could find in the package). And yes, the OPL source code is my own work, so I'll upload it to my website for others to download.

hello:
i wonder here and there alot but i find nothing....

i want to know how celltrack is created.

i want to add some feature to this sofwate as my research..

one is to use TA(timing advance) parameter to find BTS distance....

other is to find tower direction by calculating azmuth....

BTS distance calculation is vary easy but abt azmuth i dont know any thing.

i will be vary thankfull if i got reply.
