Come on Nokia, you guys must read these forums!
Can you please let us know when these issues are going to be resolved?(if at all).
So many things the N9210 did, that the new N9500 doesn't.. Why??
Surely you must have done some market research?
even the basic things like sending a sms to a recent received call, you cant do.. you now have to save it as a contact first. or cut n paste.
I'm not knocking the N9500 but worried that all these problems are gonna go the same way as last time, by bringing out the Nokia 9500i !!

I think the main reason for the 9210i was a hardware (Memory issue) rather than software, although there may have been software differences. A problem that the 9500 doesn't have.
Firmware releases will come, be patient though, we are all in the same boat, i'm sure issues will get resolved but it will take time.
What I've heard, FW version 4.51 will be released soon (at the same time the 9300 comes available). A bit more patience...
Firmware version v4.50 has been released.
Office documents work flawlessly even with SP2
Battery indicator problem fixed.
Cant wait to get mine done
I apologise for asking what may seem like a dumb question but (my excuse is i am a newbie to PDAs for starters with a new 9500)....
how do you get the firmware upgraded?

You have to go to a Nokia Service Center near you, they can flash it for you!
i just checked with nokia(bombay, India) . they done have the new firmware as yet.
i just checked with nokia(bombay, India/Supreme Telecom +91-22-24443995) . they DONT have the new firmware as yet.
Here in Portugal Nokia don't even have a date for the arrival of the new firmware!
...and how do I locate my nearest Nokia Service Center?

Here in US Nokia do not even have a date for arrival of the phone 😞
The firmware would actually be spread around the world by electronic means , and if it has been released then it should be around quite soon.
confirmed with nokia , the official release for this software version is actually after 7-10 days.but i'm going tomorrow to get my phone upgraded. it will take about 1 hour.
yippie !!!..cant wait.. will keep u posted on changes.

Hmm can somebody else confirm that firmware 4.70?? is out?
what is the 'latest' firmware supposed to be? 4.50, 4.51, or 4.70 ??? im confused.
how can i check the firmware? i'd like to wait for a phone with the latest firware before i buy one. the local nokia service centers charge ~$60 just to upgrade the firmware. that's highway robbery.

Charge? They shouldn't charge anything as it's still under warranty - bugs = faults, ergo you have a faulty product that should be fixed free of charge...
AFAIK IMFO

I'm sorry, but I'm finding that hard to believe. Could you post a picture of a screenshot showing your firmware?

Hi, i'm from Portugal too, how do you know when the firmware update is availabe?
Do you have to phone them or you can see in their website?
Hi, Cyberg!
Nice to have another "Tuga" in the forum! :icon14:
About the firmware, I called to Nokia Careline. Here's the contact:
http://www.nokia.pt/contactos.html
But I'm afraid you won't hear good news... 😡
the latest software version is 4.44
ANd you will get charged if you just want the latest, as its not a warranty issue.....
got my phone upgraded to 4.50(1). this software is dated 8-12-2004 which means its a month old. so there could be a possibility that 4.70 is out. anyways here in bombay, India, they dont know about the 4.70.
I've just got the new 4.50 a few hours back, the only difference i see is that the phone seems slightly faster....its, maybe..just maybe, 8-10% faster only

Can you let us know if you find any other diferences?
Any company that charges you for a firmware update (For a phone under a year old bought in the same country) is robbing you!!....firmware updates are free under warranty, take it to a proper nokia certified centre, not some dodgy back alley guy with a griffin box and firmware he's downloaded from the internet somewhere!
the firmwae upgrade is FREE, its yet under warranty. Nokia cannot charge you for it , if its under warranty.
Other changes, i'll let u know as & when i use it. I dont see much changes straight. Maybe this upgrade was the 1st one to come along & it just cleared out some crashing issues & made it more stable....thats it.
BTW..i just realised one thing. wheile i was there... the little small box like thing protuding from the battery cover is a MAGNET, only when it comes in contact with a sensor near the sim card does the phone detect the memory card.
there was a person who had a nokia 7710 & his magnet had fallen off & he could not get his phone to read the memory card, so he had to replace the back cover of his brand new nokia 7710 (he told me that the real on player in this phone is not stable & it keeps crshing),other than that the phones good !!!
------------ So Be Carefull with the Back Cover-----------------

Cheers for that snippet of information, on the one hand probably a better idea than on the 9210, on the other it's something very likely to get damaged when you change mmc cards. Why a simple spring loaded slot with a hinged flap just for the MMC wasn't good enough is beyond me.
Interesting, I played around with a 9300 today which is supposed to have the latest firmware and in the "about" it says, that it's 4.40(1)...
Well then again, it might have it's on version numbering too 😃
