Can anyone please tell me where I can d/l the firmware v4.0437.4, 15-09-04, rh-51. Our local nokia service center does not have it and having just upgraded from a 7250i I miss the shortcuts and go-to's.
My e-mail is removed.
7610 firmware upgrade needed
Can anyone tell me where it is possible to d/l the 0439 upgrade as our local service center does not have. I would be very grateful if anyone can help.
Nokia has not released phone firmware ROM image files for public distribution over the internet. Authorized Nokia service centers should have the means/channels to get them.
Excerpt from the forum rules:

One answer in your duplicate post: http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum//forum/thread/33134/
I was not asking about illegal software. My local Vodaphone shop suggested that if I can get the firmware then it could be sent to the service center with my phone to be upgraded. The duplicate thread was due to my being a first time user of a forum. I am surprised that my mistake has been dealt with in such a manner !
My apologies, but any copy of the ROM files you could find is really illegally (without permission, against agreements/contracts, at least) available, because they shouldn't be available in the first place. So, in practice you were asking for a copy of illegally distributed software even if wasn't intentional from your part.
Vodafone and Vodafone's service partners should have the means to get whatever firmware releases they need directly from Nokia without requesting their end-customers to attempt to find such files from the Internet. That was not very professional of them, I'd say.
Consider also this:
Whatever you find, how could you be sure it is for the correct phone?
How could you be sure it contains the correct languages?
How could you be sure it isn't bad, corrupted or tampered with or that it won't screw up your phone somehow if brought it to a service center and tried to flash your phone with them?
How could any reputable professional service center dare to use files someone walks in with from the street, and possibly mess up a customer's phone or in the worst case possible even risk their relationship and agreement with the device manufacturer?

No joke. You read the rules when you signed up. If you don't like them, no need to stay.
aregrim,
the only place we can advise you to get the firmware from is the nokia service centres. i know you said your local nokia service centre doesn't have it but it may just be that the latest version has not been released in your country yet. you might just have to wait.
asking for the flash files on this forum is not permitted & i would also advise that you get the update done by a professional. it is also against the forum rules to create duplicate threads so i merged this thread with your previous one. this is just a bit of advice so please dont get upset by it.
p.s.
google can be helpful 😉
