When i try and open a file in OggPlay (non mmf version) there is a pause of a few seconds before the track begins to play. When it does, the track starts playing around 12 seconds in.
Does this happen to anyone else?
BTW, i have not updated my firmware yet, but now the Vodafone version is ready, i will when its available 😊

Yes it happens with mine also. Shame coz its a really good program (much better than built in mp3 player).
Are you using the updated firmware?
omegax wrote:Are you using the updated firmware?
Yes I have the latest. It doesn't just miss the beginning of the song, the program is very unstable. My brother has an SX1 and it works so well, seriously OggPlay is the best!! I wish it would work properly on the Sendo.
Thats annoying. Oh well, maybe a more stable version will be released for the Sendo, or another ogg player 😊
Cheers for the info
I have a fix for this 😊
...but I lost my Sendo just before Christmas and I'm now waiting to get another.
I'm planning to do some other work on OggPlay when my new phone arrives so I'll see what I can do about getting my fix into the build, or see if it makes more sense to get a Sendo specific version released.
The same problem occurred to me too. But I think only when I wanted to skip the song for the next one, that it occurred.
fig7: Are you one of the developers, or do you just plan on editing the code? Either way, if you make a version that works on the X, i will hereby call you the OGG god 😃

If OggPlay works on my X it will make it officially the best phone 😊 It is the main thing that annoys me at the moment.
I'll try and get this sorted either today or tomorrow, although I still don't have my new phone, unfortunatley. :frown:
So maybe if I sort out a build with my fixes in it, perhaps you guys could test the changes for me?
fig7
We certainly could test the changes for you, all you have to do is tell us where we can download the new build...
I have an arsenal of OGG files on my system, so i would be more than happy to test it for you 😊
Well, I got fed up of waiting for my mail order Sendo so I went out and got one from a Vodaphone shop 😃
new OggPlay build coming soon...
I look forward to it. Make sure to keep us posted 😊
Ok, guys here it is:

You can send me feedback direct or post your thoughts on the OggPlay forums:

At the moment it is working VERY well 😊 The only bugs ive noticed so far is when you open the options menu whilst listening to music, the music basically cuts out, and the volume control doesnt work when using headphones on an adaptor (but thats the same on any music app ive tried)
Yeah, the music cut off when you press options is a known "feature" and it affects all S60 1.x phones. It's not simple to fix either, unfortunately. I've noticed that sometimes when you fiddle with the options while it is playing the music stops completely and doesn't ever restart. If that happens just press the right softkey to exit and then re-start OggPlay.
I just noticed there is new firmware out, 1.98.5.2, I'll have to to try that later. I hope OggPlay still works after I've installed it 😉
Im running OggPlay on the latest vodafone release, and it works fine (obviously) 😊

Wow that is so much better. I got the newest firmware too. But the 'Options' Button is very buggy like you described, sometimes the program freezes completely after going into options and coming back out!
Multi-tasking is better, but still not perfect. Is there anything you can do about that by raising the priority or something? Or is it a sendo problem?
There may be a bug involving the screensaver. When it comes on the music sometimes cuts out
Yes, music playback cuts out sometimes. You'll just have to live with it for now. It's not a problem with Sendo specifically. It's a problem with the audio framework code that is on all Symbian phones based on OS6.1 and 7.0 (but not 7.0s or 8.x)
I may be able to fix it at some point, but I've just started working on something else for OggPlay so I'll have to get that done first.
Excellent, thanks! I've never used OggPlay before, but its a great alternative to the bundled mp3 player.
A slightly OT question : is there any way to batch convert mp3 -> ogg?? (preferably freeware 😉 )
Download some software called goldwave. Its completely free and a great audio editor/convertor 😊

Or use dBpowerAMP and the Ogg codec from:

Mart, I've noticed the freezing too. It seems to happen quite a lot if you rapidly switch between different tracks. It's very weird. There's no audio and it becomes impossible to move up and down the list. The weird part is that the options menu still works. Weirder still is that if you repeatedly pull up the options menu and then hit cancel sometimes the cursor/track highlight jumps to another track.
As far as I'm concerned that means it isn't a problem with the audio - the short pauses/drop outs from time to time are, but the freezing is something different.
I'll have to take a look at this, find out what's going on....
Ok... I've figured out that pulling up the options menu "unfreezes" the list for a brief moment allowing the previous key presses to get through. That explains why the highlight moves, but it's still very weird!
I've now fixed the freezing and improved the multi-tasking, it's not 100% perfect but it's much better than before. I'll try and get another release of OggPlay organised as soon as I get some free time - maybe tmorrow if you're lucky 😊
and the volume control doesnt work when using headphones on an adaptor (but thats the same on any music app ive tried)
omegax, do you mean that the OggPlay volume control doesn't work when headphones are attached? It works for me but the volume can only be set between "loud" and "very loud". It doesn't make any difference if I use Sendo's headphones (without an adapter) or my own headphones (with an adapter). The reason that it happens on every music app is because it's Sendo's fault!
Two solutions:
1. Get headphones with a volume control
2. Get a new version of OggPlay that lowers the volume 😊
There's a new version coming soon. Hopefully we are going to make it an official release this time.
