The OGG player for the OLD Symbian S60 version 1.2 which the Sendo X is running can not play MP3's... Only the version based on Symbian S60 v2 is capable of playing MP3's I think...

Did not even manage to get it to play OGG's... Do you?

I get's the usual audio/error message which I get on many Symbian applications..

Yes, only the MMF version can play MP3s and only on phones which support third party MP3 playback via the MMF (all of the MMF Nokias do I think, although I'm not 100% sure). MP3 support for the non MMF version is a possibility for future releases but it's not something that is being actively worked on at the moment.

On the Sendo X / non MMF version I don't get any errors at all. Is this happening on an X or some other phone?

Exactly, you're touching a very Sendo sensitive subject there...

Why should one actively work on software for and "old" operating system (V1.2) ?? When the future lays within the new (v2)...

Maybe we also then understand why TomTom Mobile, Quickoffice Premier w/editing capabilities, Mobimates WorldMate and RockIT Pinball will never work on neither the Sendo X or the X2!?

Still, I would like to see the Ogg player playing mp3's on the Sendo X, since I think the actual sound quality is pretty good on it, and maybe we could get rid of the tremendous times for switching tracks...

But, I fully understand you software developers, I would do just the same if I were you! - Concentrate on the future.

Anyway, I guess by the time you could have a stable release working on the X, I may allready have sold my Nokia 6680 to buy a new unit again! 🙄

One day I too will have a 6680 but at the moment the only phone I have is a Sendo X so non MMF development is still something I am interested in. However if I do any more non MMF work it will be to fix the audio drop outs that happen from time to time. MP3 support might get some time if enough people ask for it.

Anyway, I'm not sure exactly what is happening with the release at the moment. Claus and Bert are handling it, I'm not involved in the process. In the meantime, Claus has made another unofficial release available so you could give that a try.

MP3 Support would be great :icon14:

OggPlay is IMO the best music player on series60 phones, its only disadvantage is that it doesnt play MP3s 😉

multi-tasking actually works with this last "unofficial" release!! yuhuuuuuu. i cant FF thru a song though. other than that its awesome, well just wish it could play mp3 files too:-s

Well on my X you can hold down the fast forward key and it does fast forward, but the display doesn't update so you don't know how far you've got. Is this the same problem you are seeing?

oops i didnt know u have to set the hotkeys to be able to ff and stuff:-s i was trying to use the joypad directional buttons to ff and rewind😃
anyways i think vobis is awesome, its soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much faster than the built-in mp3 player.
when i wanna ff i just press ff once and it skips 15secs or so@fig

The hot keys are pretty damn cool if you ask me. I've got ff, rw, next song, previous song, page up, page down and most importantly play/pause and lock keypad mapped to hot keys 😊

Yes, it is. The 1.04 version of OggPlay is working really well for me on the X at the moment 😃

When working for the first version of symbian OS you know that your application will be compatible with all the current, past and feature devices. It is only advisable to move onto the latest version if there are APIs that either can make your work better with more features. Unfortunately the only feature that benefits Oggplay from Series60 ver 2.0 and above is the Multimedia Framework which makes the use of 3rd party codecs in order for the phone to be able to play other types than the standard ones in the whole O.S.
The bad thing is that the MMF is very limited in the sound processing part.

In other words the MMF version gives you the ringtones and universal playback (as long as you have a s60 ver 2.0 and above device).

The non-MMF (for every symbian s60 phone) gives you the spectrum analyser and the volume boost option.

It's good to see you hanging around here Stuart (strange though that I saw your posts so late).

Keep the development going. And by the way have a look for a crossfading feature on the next oggplay release if you can (pleaseeeeee!!!!).

PS:If you (or anyone else) have any ideas for a new skin specifically for your sendo X I'd gladly make a try...
