Hey folks,
if u find a old SL45 or another Siemens with MMC,
buy it!!!
u can load your fotos via Infra up to the MMC on it.
so u have a cheep solution to have 128mb as extern memory!!!
If u wanna see the fotos again on your 7650,only load it back to 7650:
eh voil....
(even Java-apps.could be put on MMC...)
i go now out there to ask some of my friends,
if i could one of the old SL45 they have...
Smi
But this is exactly the same as using a PC or laptop to back up your data. Its not really a solution. :-?
Irda is also slow and cumbersum. A small object with bluetooth would be better.
Back to the drawing board! 😃

I'd sure as hell rather carry round an SL45 than a Laptop. 😃
It could be quite useful for images only, but a waste of time for Java apps.
A T68i with an MMC would be better, because you could view the images & it has bluetooth.

😃 True!
But why would you need instant access to a back catalouge of poor quality pictures, on a tiny screen anyway?! If you really wanted to show them off on the move you'd use a laptop to display them. I use a Sony Picturebook so its not that much bigger than an SL45 anyway!
I understand why my girlfriend calls me stubbon now, I argue even when i'm blatantly wrong.. like now! 😃
Slightly more modern solution which I use:
IPAQ 3870 with 2GB IBM microdrive - using the bluetooth connection.
It acts more as a repository than extra memory though, as you can't install apps on it and run them from the phone.
Doesn't the Microdrive kill the battery life on the Ipaq? I've heard that they need huge amounts of power, add bluetooth to the equasion (which doesn't drain the 7650 as much as I thought it would) and doesn't you IPAQ die after a couple of hours?
Just a question, as that seems like a good way of doing it. I'm just wondering if there are any flaws (other than the huge cost!).
It's not as bad as people make out - means your basically charging it every day.
The main problem is, as you say, cost.
I guess it depends on what you're using it for. When I was looking into getting one for my Cassiopia a couple of years back (that long already?!) I was planning to stream movies & mp3's from it, which I guess drain more battery power.
It's a little off-topic but I'm currently thinking of buying a 2nd hand B/W Ipaq and using it as an MP3 Player. Any reason why I shouldn't? I don't know much about them anymore 😞 Can I add memory cards to it without needing that huge expansion sleeve?
you can use multimedia cards with them (stamp size memory cards) which are coming down to reasonable prices now (don't know if that applies to the B&W one though - would be worth checking).
Not sure how long the batteries would last if you constantly playing mp3 though - probably just a couple of hours
I'm well impressed with the sound quality it gives out through headphones though 😃
Another couple of questions: (Sorry!)
Why are the H3130 (B&W) and the 3660 so cheap? I'm watching a few of them on ebay and they're all under 50! Any reason why?
Most of them come from sellers that have a 0 rating which means when you will send your money you won't get anything in return! Thieves
Ahhh.. thats the intresting thing! I've been a member of ebay for over a year so I can generaly spot a dud seller. These guys all have high ratings. I'm more worried about the quality of the stock than the validity of the sellers.
High ratings? Where? I checked ebay and the only 3650s are from sellers with 0 rating :-?
I'm looking at H3130's & 3660's
😮ops: I will try to read the posts better next time 😮ops:
What is a 3660 ?? Dont tell me a 3650i already 😞 😛anic:
lol Ebay people with 0 ratings, arent half dodgey are they.
Yes still not a solution to the memory but definitely easier to just quickly upload them to another phone, proir to PC or laptop.

Don't worry we're talking about the Compaq Ipaq PDA not Nokia handsets! 😃
