Ogg is probably better on sound, and looks better as well (especially with the iPogg2 skin!). The fact that the Ogg files are smaller for similar/better sound surely counts for something - I'm typically using 96kbps files; mp3 at that bitrate would sound pretty ropy, with no decent stereo separation, cluttering of the soundstage, etc, but Ogg does a pretty good job.
And if you've got a fairly fast PC, it doesn't take much time at all to convert from mp3/cd/wmv to Ogg either (couple of minutes for a full CDs worth of audio).

No, all those will only play in 16KHz MONO when the SX-1 is capable of 44.1KHz STEREO output. Makes no sense to use any of those and restrict the phone to poor quality mono output.
OggPlay is a brilliant solution, 44.1KHz stereo output on the SX-1 and .ogg files are much smaller than mp3's of similar sound quality. And converting audio to .ogg is very easy and quick with dBpowerAmp 😉
As far as I am aware, OggPlay is the only 3rd party audio player that outputs in 44.1KHz stereo on handsets that support it. Using anything else is a waste of time.

I have to correct you here because Real Player as well as Helix Player can output in 44.1khz Stereo. Helix can also play MP3 and wideband AMR while both real and Helix can play *.ra (RealAudio) files.
Either way though I still recommend oggplay. It is far superior than any other because:
1.Oggplay as well as the Ogg Vorbis format are open source...
2.Ogg files with 64kbps have the same quality with mp3 at 128kbps. Double your music with no need to buy another MMC.
3.The User interface is maybe the biggest advantage of Oggplay against every other MP3 player.
4. It uses much less CPU than the other MP3 players (only the built in MP3 player can beat oggplay in this section for 1-2% less CPU usage) and so less battery consuming.
5. And as you all mentioned above Stereo AND 44.1 Khz Quality

I never understand peoples problems, especially with Mobiles, about converting from MP3 or CD to another format like Ogg. I've got a P4 1.7gHz laptop, and it'll convert an hours worth of music to Ogg in about 5 minutes or less, so its not time consuming. Couple that with my MMC card reader, and I can have that hours worth of music onto the phone in about 5 or 6 minutes (ie. dbPowerAmp copies to the MMC card). Its almost a total non-issue.
And the Ogg interface, especially with the iPogg skin, is absolutely fantastic (apart from the useless graphic eq display).
thanks it seems to be great

I think there is a disadvantage is, for non-MMF version of OGGplay, it does not support bluetooth headset.
