Dv Rs Mmc

Hi there. I am writing from Greece and the last information I have about the DV RS MMC is that the larger at the moment is 128MB. They said that 512MB will be here in around a month.

Hope that helps and btw it sux that we are left behind with such a small memory capacity.

as far as i know samsung already released 256mb dv rs-mmc.

does anyone actually know when exactly higher cap mmc cards will be released? 1 gig would be just brilliant! 😃

I totally agree, I can not do with less than 1Gb, so I will wait to buy this phone
until such cards are available (if)..

samsung released the 256dv rs? where? available for retail now?
really look forward to it....

I got the 128MB cards from Expansys a couple of weeks ago, but more memory would be ideal. I may be happy with 512MB but 1G sounds good. Patience not my strong point though, like a lot of you it seems.

RS-MMC size: 18mm x 24mm x 1.4mm
MMC size: 32mm x 24mm x 1.4 mm

The Kingmax ones are definitely RS-MMC despite the fact that the link header is 'MMCmobile'.

If you look at the voltage you'll see that they're dual voltage too.

Err... yes they have, I have a Kingmax MMCmobile card in my 6630 right now.

what size? where u got it online? 😎

1G will be a long time yet, they have issues with the amount of silicon they can fit into that space. It will happen but not for a long time. 512 is also not going to be due for a long while but the way I see it with them being interchangable and so small it doesnt really need to be more than 256 because you can just insert the ones you need at the time in seconds!!

I've only had my 6630 a few days, and that was one of the things that helped my decision, the ability to hot-swap the memory cards.

Although I only got 32mb, when I thought it'd be 64! Does anyone have a link to a good online store where I can buy a bigger card that is compatible? (a lot of them say its not compatible with the 6630, presumably the dual voltage thing)

That sucks. I dont care about the hot swapping. I want a larger memory card and I dont mean 128MB. 512mb would be fine so they better release one soon. AFAIK its going to be at the end of the month. I contacted a store here in Greece and they said so. So dont believe the rumours that they are not going to release any largers. IMO if the memory sticks to 128 then the phone would just suxx cause of that. I want to carry around many Mp3's and be able to take pictures and videos without worrying that the memory card will be full soon. So 512 or 1gb and soon.

Be sure you ask for a Dual Voltage Reduced Size Multimedia card. I had to send back my memory card twice because I asked for a mmc for 6630 and first they sent me a normal MMC for 6600. The second time they just sent me a Reduced size MMC which wouldnt work for 6630 because it wasnt Dual voltage. So be sure what you are asking before you order anything. Hope I save you some money and time.

Cheers.

what size is yr kingmax? i guess 128mb & where did u get it from? 😃

fannypad wrote:128MB from Expansys, before the skanky bastards put the price up 😉

Yeah, I seen it on their site at 37 quid odd... seemed a bit steep for 128mb... i guess if they've got the demand for it though.... cheeky beggars!

Can't believe Nokia made such a strategic bummer!!

Make a new phone, that is supposed to be their top model, which
uses memory cards which is not accessible in more than 256Mb!!

HAHA Ridicilous!!! It is not such an issue for me since I think the 6630 is
a weird looking phone, but I would like to buy the 6680..

Lets hope Nokia reads these forums and make the 6680 use ordinary
RS MMC's!!

Anything below 1Gb is useless for me!

No chance.

Nokia has been planning the move to dual-voltage cards for a good while (note how the cards that come with the 7610/6670 are dual-voltage), and all future Nokia handsets that use the RS-MMC format will require dual-voltage cards.

I'm sure that once such devices will become commonplace and Samsung get their fingers out their arse and start proper volume production of the DV chips then we'll see higher capacity cards.

ive seen the 6680, and i think its very very ugly...i don't care for video calling at all...it's a gimmick..and one that won't take off...nokia made the right choice releasing the 6630 in its current state, without the additional camera...looking at the 6680, i know i made the right choice...it's the ugliest phone ive ever seen...what a brick...judging from the questionaire that we (cpw) did a few months back, the public aren't bothered about it either....

Nice one, any more details on the 6680?

Did you hold a working model in your hand and have a chance to play about with it? If so, how does the menu look? All rumours point to it having a new "3D" UI.

And I agree that it does look like a bit of a brick in all the pics I've seen. But one handed text input on the 6630 is awkward for me due to its fat arse, so a more normal shaped phone would be preferable.

Guess I'll just have to wait till it's in the shops to have a play about.

hi.. can i know whether singapore have any supllier selling dv-rs-mmc....?
